Everyone is highly regarding Australia as the best team in the world. I do agree they are the best today. But I beg to differ that they are unbeatable. They have great bowlers like Mcgrath, Brett Lee, Gillipse, Shane Warne(who is now Shame Warne) and so on. I feel Australia play as a unit. The final in which India failed to perform better may be because India overrated Australia and Australia rated India correctly. Even-though Wright as made India to go on the right track I feel he has not trained Indian’s in the psychological front. Indian’s were not as tough as Australians on that day.
The erratic beginning overs bowled by Indians and the following decision taken by Ganguly in the middle overs cost Indians the Cup
Giving Shewag only 3 overs(his spell was worth 14 runs as every other bowlers except Harbajan was hit more than 6 that time) was amazing.
His persistence with Zaheer Khan even after his two bad spells reminds me what Azhar did with Agarkar in the match against Zimbabwe.
Not using Harbajan properly.
We all know Harbajan is not a great bowler in the death and he is confidence bowler. Ganguly should have finished Harbajan Quota in the middle overs. This would have helped India in controlling the runs at the end.
Allowing the openers to take charge by not placing fielders where they use to score runs.
Erratic bowling by Zaheer and Srinath was not controlled by Ganguly.
Ganguly never tried any innovative methods to control runs and he allowed the game to drift away.
The chase was poorly planned. Sachin should have waited for 5 overs before starting to hit. Shewag was the only player who played well.
To top all India never felt they can win the match from the beginning. They lost the battle with the media rhetoric which said Australia is unbeatable.
I feel Australia a peaked and their performance in this world cup is great. You can see them getting exposed in the coming tournaments as they have many shortcomings in their team as they do not have good support bowlers and their middle order is not as strong as they are projected.(Ricky ponting was dropped twice in the super six matches against Sri Lanka, Symonds was given life against Pakistan as well as Sri Lanka). The three B’s Bevan, Breet Lee and Bichel were the star performers. Let us see if Australia sustains their tempo in the coming years.
I love my country and I feel it is the duty of every citizen to support their country rather then doubting their abilities. This is the best team India has ever produced. This team will definitely improve in confidence and grow as a better side. If not an unbeatable one but a majestic one.
