I flew from Mumbai - Vienna - Washington Duelles(IAD) by Austrian and was amazed by the excellent service provided by the airline. Below are some sequence of events especially liked by me:
Check In at Mumbai: All those who have travelled international know for a fact what kind of crazy rush is there at the check in counters of every airline. Austrian was no exception. But the staff was very co-operative and since I was travelling alone, they let me use a special queue saving me a good 20 min in queue.
On board the flight: The most active airlines staff I have observed(comparison incl the likes of Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa). They kept moving around in aisles with tray full of glasses even when people were sleeping. Besides the food was just excellent. In case you are a non-vegetarian, you are in luck as the chicken dishes served on board are just too yummy.
Timeliness: My flight from Mumbai - Vienna reached 30 min before time and from Washington - Vienna reached 20 min before time and Vienna - Mumbai reached a cool 50 min before time(but was delayed by our great ATC staff).
Highly recommended for those who want to have a good flying experience at reasonable cost.
The only flipside of this travel was a very small Vienna airport, which makes passing time between connecting flights a very boring affair. There are just a couple of duty free stores which sell more or less the same products and that too not much.
