I have heard many people talking and also read some reviews in newspapers stating that the James Cameron’s movie, ‘Avatar’ has not lived up to the viewer’s expectations. But I don’t agree to this. I have watched this movie just recently and it is good, a real effort taken movie.
It is one of the most beautiful movies especially in terms of graphics that I have seen in years now. I have heard that it took all 10 years for the director and their whole team to complete this movie for which costs$500 million. What great computer animation…and the color scheme used to show the beauty on the planet Pandora enhances the visual effects. The 3D effects add to the beauty.
The whole concept is so innovative and is beyond our imaginations. The story is all about the RDA corporation using their scientists and the US military to explore the natural resources which is in abundance on the planet Pandora which is inhabited by Na’vi, a species of human who are taller and physically stronger than humans with sparkling blue skin.
But since humans cannot breathe for longer in the atmosphere of Pandora, the scientists created the human- Na’vi hybrids which are called as avatars. Sam Worthington plays the role of the lead actor Jake Sully who is sent to Pandora in the avatar form to explore their mission and to convince the Na’vis to evacuate their planet. But gradually Jake falls in love with a Na’vi woman and also realizes that the mission is worthless and fights a heroic battle to save the civilization on Pandora. So the movie is a beautiful blend of action, romance, adventure and special effects.
The movie is also released in 2D and 3D. I saw the 3D version and the experience was good except for the little eye strain caused using the 3D glasses. But I feel that the children below the age of 10 may not enjoy watching the movie as they may not understand the story. They will only be able to enjoy the beautiful visual effects
