As soon as I saw the trailers of this movie, I had decided that It’s a must watch. What fascinated me the most is the concept with which the movie had been made. With a complete different concept, we visit a new world, which would amaze us at every point of time. This movie makes us hope that if only such a world existed or could ever exist in future.
Directed by James Cameron, the story revolves around Pandora- a densely-forested habitable moon of Polyphemus. The RDA Corporation mines for a valuable mineral Unobtanium on Pandora. Pandora is inhabited by the Na’vi, very tall, blue-skinned humanoids. To explore Pandora’s biosphere, scientists use Na’vi-human hybrids called "Avatars". The protagonist of the movie is Jake Sully(Sam Worthington), who replaces his dead twin brother Tom, in the operation. Grace(Sigourney Weaver), Head of the program, assigns Jake as a bodyguard. As Grace and Norm(Joel David Moore) collect biological data, Jake is attacked by huge rhino-like animal & Jake tries to defend himself from all wild animals till the evening, when he is rescued by a female Na’vi Neytiri(Zoe Saldana). When she sees the spirits of their Mother Goddess Eywa surrounding Jake, she takes him to her clan, where her mother Mo’at, the clan’s spiritual leader, orders her daughter to initiate Jake into their society & teach him their skills.
Colonel Miles Quaritch, head of RDA’s security force, assures him that their company will restore his paralysed legs if he gathered information about the Na’vi. When Grace gets to know about this plan, she, along with Jake and Norm, transfers themselves to an outpost. In the meantime, Jake becomes close to the Na’vis and learns all their customs and ways. Soon. Neytiri & Jake fall in love with each other and choose each other as mates. Suddenly, Jake disabled a bulldozer that had come to destroy a Na’vi site & Jake revealed a change in his allegiance. When Quaritch showed a proof of Jake’s attack on the bulldozer to Selfridge(Administrator), he orders to destroy The Hometree. Quaritch launches attacks on Pandora, killis Neytiri’s father & many other inhabitants. When the Na’vis got to know that Jake was a spy. their trust in him was broken & Jake, Grace and Norm had been imprisoned. Mo’am makes them free in the desire that they could save their world. During escape, Quaritch injures Grace. To regain their trust, Jake starts fighting against humans, with the help of Toruk, a dragon-like bird who can fly. The Na’vis could not save Grace. After a fearsome battle, Quaritch dies & the land of Pandora stays secured.
The movie was breath-taking and I’ve never seen a movie which is comprised of such great ideas, cinematography, animation & everything else. This movie IS a "Movie of the Decade".
