Grisoft Inc. has bought us this wonderful package. A freely downloadable Anti Virus, registartion code by e mail, frequent updates and above all an EFFECTIVE ANTIVIRUS
I downloaded this software an year ago. I had formatted my harddisk and had McAfee before that. The performace of McAfee was good but it used to slow my computer, hence the switch to AVG is quite a pleasure in itself.
I would agree to my classmate and MS mate Mayank (mayank_kaul) about the performamce of AVG. The software can also be bought from Grisoft, but I donot know any additional benefits that they provide.
The software has a mail scanner, both incoming and outgoing. I dont think McAfee and others have outgoing mail check. Also present is a daily scan of your hard disk. The only issue I felt was that during the daily scan, sometimes the computer hangs and hence I need to restart the computer. I do not think mayank has the same problem. Haven’t asked him. But if even he has the problem, then there is a bug for grisoft to work on.....
Apart from this bug in my computer, I think AVG is worthy to be on your computer, for its effectiveness in not only cleaning the computers of the bugs but also going light on your purse is amazing
