I remember Avon nail lacquers as being the first cosmetic product I ever purchased from the brand. I found the various choices in face, lips, eyes & body so overwhelming that I decided to play it safe and stuck to ordering from the nails section instead. To date, even though Ive ventured out onto other Avon makeup items I still get giddy whenever I open the nails page of the leaflets. For one, they have a great colour selection & it definitely adds to the excitement of ordering from Avon, almost the same kind of rush one gets while making purchases online. They also keep in tune with the latest seasonal trends and offer a wide variety of finishes- from glossy metallics to sparkles, mosaic shatters and mattes (although the last one is kind of rare from Avon. You can find pastels for spring, brights for summer, rusts for autumn and golds & reds for winter. At the risk of sounding like an Avon representative (even though Im not) and much like a commercial, Id better get on to the review instead of harking on about the different colours and finishes (I cant help it, I love colours).
The nail polish bottle itself is quite large in size; 12 ml for 2.5 R.O. i.e. Rs. 250. The regular price is around R.O. 3.8 or Rs. 380. It is quite expensive for nail colours, but much more affordable when compared to drugstore brands like Bourjois, Revlon, MaxFactor, Loreal, etc. I ordered my Avon polish in the colour Deluxe Chocolate- a shimmery dark almost vampy brown+maroon, which when applied on the nails gives a goldenish sheen. The colour is definitely pretty and attracts ones attention. Unfortunately the quality of Avons NAILWEAR PRO doesnt live up to its claims of "Up to 10-day wear". It starts chipping on the third day itself if youre someone who works a lot with your hands. Its only later that I noticed the finer print of "Up to 10-day wear with normal touch-ups". The problem is that a student like myself cannot find the time to touch-up my nail paint everyday, so homemakers and working women would definitely find themselves in a catch. The reason I would recommend others to try Avons nail polishes inspite of the chipping is that it lasts on the nails for a longer time than other similar products from Maybelline, Rimmel, Lakme, Maxfactor, Oriflame, etc. Only Revlon & Lancomes nail varnishes have surpassed Avons in quality & anti-chipping claims.
Final grade- B+, I wouldnt suggest Avons NAILWEAR PRO if youre accustomed to nail paints from OPI, MAC, NARS, YSL & Chanel.
