NRI Banking, Home Loans & GDPR Privacy violation

To all European residents please note from my personal experience that AXIS Bank has taken all my personal data including salary, tax returns and credit reports on personal email of their employee who is working in the home loan Department of the Hill Road Branch, Bandra West Mumbai. This was on good faith based on the principle that I have opened an NRE/NRO account as a privileged customer and requested a home loan Application on the premise that I will be having prsonal Equity of 20-30% towards the home purchase.

However the ordeal I have undergone is in one simple Word HORRIBLE’ . Numerous escalations were been sent out even at the Group Executive Level, Bank Ombudsman and needless to say there is no courtesy to even reply. I have now taken up the issue with European authorities on the illegal practise of having shared all information to employees on their personal email and no response to Return the documentation also provided physically on requesting closure of the account.

The bank personnel have no sense of customer service and have repeatedly asked for the same information time and again . Some ridiculous requests have been as follows.

  1. Sir we need Your home address in english. I had to take the time to explain on five separate occasions that Mahatma Gandhi Road is also not English but name in English so it would be same for Norwegian the name is local but in English.

  2. Sir we need translation of line items on Your bank statement.

How can one translate store names which are in Norwegian to English. Also the bank can provide a statement in English but it would not be of any good based on the above.

Despite providing all documents and writing to top management including VP.s and Head of NRI Banking Imtiaz Ahmad, I am getting the silent treatment. I guess its the typical Indian way of keeping mum when you cannot acknowledge your shortcomings and accept your mistakes.
