I am Axis banks Priority Account customer for about 10 months now (in Chandigarh). I will not recommend this bank to anybody. Axis bank has printed a lot of things on its brochure to attract priority account customers (with minimum balance requirement of 100, 000 INR). But their service is very poor compared to their brochure promises. Following are some of the difficulties I faced:
They sent me email id and phone number of dedicated account manager, but both were wrong. Later on they told me that person has resigned. After trying their phone for several days, one day they provided phone number and email id of another account manager. That person picks up the phone once in 5 calls, and never responds emails.
They are always in search of an opportunity to impose charges on your account (even for priority account customers). I was told I need to maintain quarterly balance of 1 lac in that account. In 3 months my account had 1.2 lacs, but still they slapped a fine of Rs. 850 for less than required balance.
On going in details I was given an abstract answer - quarterly balance is calculated on monthly basis and for initial 2 months your balance was low. I was told that charges can be reversed on giving an application. When I asked what should I write in application, they embarrased me by asking me to write "I apologize for keeping lower than expected balance in my account. I will not do this again!!!". Even after that Rs. 750/- were reversed, rest they deducted as service Charges!!
Net banking is almost negligible. No features to transfer money online to other bank accounts, mobile alerts is a paid service even for priority account holders, their promise of a dedicated account manager is fake.
Once I went to deposit money in my account, staff was not friendly in the branch. They did not look like private bank at all, everybody was working slowly, acting lazy. Person who accepted the money took a long time to count it, checking each note carefully, so there was no use of note counting machine provided to him. He was also staring at me from time to time, as if I was a thief and he wanted to ask from where I brought that money. It took me 20 minutes without a queue as was priority customer!!!
Do not go for this bank. They still have government system, employees are not professional at all. This bank stands nowhere when compared to ICICI or ABM Amro. I would recommend ICICI and ABN AMRO to all.
