Product name: Ayur Sandal Face pack
Ingredients: Multani mitti, kaolin powder, calamine powder . Only partial ingredients are mentioned.
Method to use: Mix 1 tablespoon of Sandal Face Pack with Rose water to make a paste. Apply it evenly on the face & neck. Allow it to dry. Wash the face with cold water.
Effect the product claims to provide: An excellent face pack for normal & dry skin. It helps in curing local inflammations. It removes wrinkles and conditions dry & undernourished skin.
My Experience
Coming to the review part,
My skin type is - combination skin. Sometimes oily, sometimes dry but mostly oily in T-zone & dry elsewhere. I was using Ayur tulsi face pack for more than 3 months & it showed me great results. Around the end of summer my Tulsi pack was over & due to unavailability of Tulsi pack I chose to buy the sandal pack. The main reason I chose the Sandal pack over the other packs is that it mentioned "anti-dryness" & I wanted a pack that wouldn’t make my skin super-dry & stretchy.
Here is the part that got me confused. Sandalwood is an ingredient that makes the skin lean towards the dry part of the skin scale. Still, the pack mentioned that it is a sandalwood based one and yet it is an anti-dryness pack. Moreover rosewater is also an ingredient that helps remove excess oil from the skin. Yet their method suggests us to use rose water.
PRODUCT TESTING TIME : My skin was so oily (remember, it was the end of summer). I gently cleansed my face & then applied the pack .The pack was very smooth and when applied it glided over my skin. It took more than 15 mins to dry completely (it could be because I applied quite a thick layer). After the pack had dried completely I washed my face and tada! My face was glowing and cool to touch. There was no excess oil. My skin didn’t feel stretchy. The cooling & glowing effect doesn’t last very long but we can’t expect more than this for the price we pay.
The pack dries out my skin when my skin is on the drier side. With the onset of monsoon , my skin was becoming dry. I did all the applying procedure again & washed my face. ooff! not the expected results. My skin started feeling stretchy though the cooling effect was still there.
Bottom line
The product has wrong information regarding the skin type for which it suits. People with super-dry skin please avoid the product and try some other variant of Ayur face packs. The product best suits the ones with oily- normal skin.
