Had a horrific experience in this restaurant. I am writing this review for public awareness in this restaurant as well as any other place you visit.
I with my husband visited this Restaurant on 17th August, 2024 for lunch at around 1pm, the place was not so crowded, we went sat in table beside pillar where there was a service desk also, ordered food and went for hand wash, I kept my handbag in the chair, returned used hand towel which I always carry from my handbag and after that took my mobile phone and specs and started checking my messages. All this time my handbag was in the chair next to me. After the food arrived when I was about to start eating, I took off my specs and mobile and wanted to keep in handbag and at this point of time I came to know my handbag has got stolen from inside the restaurant premises.
I immediately said to the service manager and some service staff came to me and said there came a person earlier he was standing in front of kitchen door and when we inquired he said my guests are coming and I am checking for table, the table in-front of which he was standing where occupied by a couple and the ladies was feeling uncomfortable and asked the staff to ask him to not stand there, after which he changed the tables and finally he was checking a table behind mine and finally went to check upstairs. They had full confidence - that was the person who have stolen my handbag - they ran to check whether he is upstair or left - but he was found nowhere.
But the worst part which I wanted to highlight was the Service Manager was not ready to listen to his staff and was questioning me “madam you must have forgot your bag somewhere else and came here without handbag”. I told him if I came without handbag how come my specs and mobile is with me? Then he started accusing me that “when you went for handwash, that time it must have got stolen and its our husband careless ness that he did not take care of it.” Again I urged that its my habit to always use my self hand towel and I always keep my mobile and specs when not in use in my handbag - so how come I have my mobile and specs with me. I further getting irritated with his stupid cover up I asked him for CCTV Footage and once its confirmed that I came with handbag, I told him that I will call police.
And finally the real scene started, for one hour I chased him for CCTV footage but they were running around but not giving answer and even asked me to wait outside as it is a rush hour. An old man I don’t know his name from the restaurant told my husband he must have come here following you both from some other place and thats not our fault you should have been careful in a very rude manner. Finally losing cool my husband himself went to the place where they were checking the CCTV footage and to our surprise - it was somewhere in a small Mala type storeroom without any monitor and they bought some old monitor from somewhere and were trying to fix it and check the CCTV FOOTAGE. The entrance CCTV was checked and it was confirmed that I came with handbag.
Immediately I called police and 2 Police Men came and asked me about the incident and later they also came to check the CCTV and worst shock came for us now - in total at entrance they have 3 CCTV Camera and in ground floor sitting where we were dining they have 4 CCTV Camera of which all are working condition, but they are purposely loosen the wire which were connected to CCTV DVR System where the footage gets recorded so that nothing gets recorded. This is a new kind of cheating - they were not ready to except it but as my husband is an engineer he confirmed the same to police - police immediately asked the CCTV Vendor to come and also asked 2 more police from Cyber Department to come and check.
When CCTV Vendor came he was also juggling no it must have been got recorded in other 2 DVR System but the monitor is not supporting etc. etc. but later when police pressed harder, he accepted some one has knowingly loosed the wire. The Police started checking in all how many cameras are there and actual how many is getting recorded - the more worst thing came out of the entrance 3 Camera, only one was getting recorded in dining area of 4 cameras only 2 camera was getting recorded - staircase camera also was not getting recorded and this was the case in whole Restaurant and this was done on purpose knowingly for insider people itself.
And finally with whatever footage they had - police finally got the culprit’s photo and actually the service staff guys story was correct and this was the same person who was standing outside kitchen door and God knows why the Service Manager all this time was trying to prove, my husband and his own service staff wrong.
Later I went to police station, filled a complained about lost documents and jewels. I insisted Police to take strong action again the Restaurant for such poor security and my strong belief that someone from inside is involved or how can some person can casually rome around the restaurant searching for his target. It took me lot of days to recover from such a horrific incident. Bhagat Tarachand being such a big name in restaurant industry has such a poor infrastructure for security and there inside people are involved in such a horrible crime. People please be aware while such places and take care of your thing.
