One of the Oldest and prime Institution of India Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan an educational trust was founded on 7th November 1938 by Dr. K. M. Munshi, with the blessings of Mahatma Gandhi and started functioning at Delhi as Balwant Rai Mehtas Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan Public School.
The trusts programmes, through its 119 centres in India, 7 centres abroad and 367 constituent institutions, [2] cover "all aspects of life from the cradle to the grave and beyond - it fills a growing vacuum in modern life", as Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru observed when they first visited the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in 1950.[3]
The trust operates a number of primary and secondary institutes in India and abroad. It organizes and runs 100 private schools in India. The schools are known as Bharatiya Vidya Mandir, Bhavans Vidya Mandir, or Bhavans Vidyalaya.
India Post had issued a commemorative stamp to mark 75 years of foundation of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan on 7th November 2013.A series of well cultured and representing True Indian Culture with teachings to develop responsible citizens of India.
