He lays a claim on the throne!

The vacations are here and everyone was looking out for a cracker of a start. That is what they got exactly out of Baadshah. But if you are expecting something really innovative which you really shouldn’t as the trailer was quite ordinary then you might feel a bit let down.

The movie is no different from the usual masala flicks but there is enough entertainment to keep you glued to your seats to the end of the show. Made on a whopping budget this movie was destined to succeed considering the amount of hype surrounding it – and it will for sure as the Director Actor duo as pulled of a really good stunt.

The story revolves around a quest of our title character – the Baadshah (Jr. NTR), a really aggressive and young player in an International Crime syndicate that is reminiscent of Don (the SRK movie). Baadshah is slightly hot headed and his father (played by Mukesh Rushi) runs a casino for the head of the syndicate  Saadhu Bhai (played by Kelly Dorji ).

Baadshah’s aggressive attitude and the pace at which he climbs the ladder of power gives Sadhu Bhai the creeps. He sees Baadshah as a huge threat for his existence and hence wants to eliminate him. But soon enough our hero becomes powerful enough that the Don seeks the help of some rivals to eliminate his arch enemy.

A large scale terrorist attack is planned by Saadhu and our Baadshah is the only one who can stop him. Here comes our gorgeous lady love (Kaajal) in the picture who happens to the Hyderabad Police commissioner’s daughter.  Her dad is a typical damsel’s father – he is strict an upright. Baadshah now seeks their help in taking on the villain. But is this war just because he loves the country? Does he have some ulterior  motive ? This is the twist in the story – one which you will really enjoy.

As for the performances of the characters, Jr. Ntr never seems to disappoint you. He plays the character with pomp and perfection. He does this tough nut to crack but good at heart don with  so ease that it would be right to say that he has taken to the role like duck to water. His brilliance is what carries the movie safely even though it really does not have an extra ordinary plot. The action, the dialogues and even the comic timing has been top notch. He is the gem of the movie.

But when I say he is the gem, it does not mean that others did anything wrong. All of them were equally good, but the plot still remains hero –centric. The lead actress Kajal is gorgeous as always. She entertains us with her corny lines, his dance his attitude throughout the movie. Mahesh Babu has lent his voice for some of the parts in the movie which has been an icing on the cake.

Brahmanandam is hilarious as usual and happens to do a very crucial role which I really liked considering that some directors undermine a comedian’s acting prowess. Siddharth too has a minor but a very important role in the movie which he carries of effortlessly. The Director Sreenu seems to have efficiently used all the actors and brought out the best in them.

The movie is not without its loopholes though. The plot as I previously said is awfully similar to many that I have seen in the past, not only in Telgu but in Hindi as well. Some of the actors did not get ample amount of time in the script and the plot slows down considerably by the end of the first half which seems really irritating.

The screenplay, dialogues, songs and dance sequences have been good if not great. The comedy is top notch and is a great value addition to the movie.

Verdict – If you are looking out for a great start for the summer then this is surely in your list of must watch. If you are Jr NTR fan –then you might already be on your way to see it. But even if your not it is great and interesting.
