Kasab ko A/C room diya gaya tha, usse se to zada hi kaam kiya h maine.
This is what Bilal Khan( KK Menon) says when he is Jail. I hope you all got a fair bit of idea where this film strikes you. A competetion among terrorist, pun intended, thats new for me.
Director Neeraj Pandey delivers yet another master piece. U remember his "A Wednesday" which was remade in several langauge and yes that include hollywood as well. Baby takes you on a roller coaster ride of amazing thrills, action and suspense.
Coming to the story, Baby is the name of a unit which was formed after the aftermath of 26/11 attack of mumbai to eradicate terrorism from our soil by carrying out various covert operation in and outside India. The head of operation of this unit is Firoz Ali Khan( Danny Denzogpa) and Ajay Singh Rajput( Akshat Kumar) is his most trusted resource. The story begins where they find about a mole in their unit who helps terrorist in plotting a bomb in mumbai and on the other side escape of Bilal Khan from Mumbai Jail. The unit comes to know that there is something big being planned by Bilal khan and Maulana mhd Saeed Rehman( Rasheed Naaz) . Then beguns the tom and jerry show of catching, plotting and even terrorising the terrorist. I would not like to give any spoilers here, u need to watch the film to experience it.
The brilliance of the film is the sheer audacity of the unit in carrying out their job. As for the acting part, Kay Kay Menon gets 3 scene in the film, only 3 and he delivers. He shows calmness, aggression and fear in those 3 scene, seperately ofcourse.
Akshay kumar is brilliant, keeps a straight face for most of the part but still is able to give you some laugh. Anupam kher comes in second half and is at his epitome in these kind of roles, cakewalk for him. Danny is superb and assure calmness to the overall fast pace setting.
The best 3 scenes of the film as per me has to be when Priya( Tapsee Pannu) engages in a raw fight with Wasim Khan( Sushant Singh) . 2nd being the conversation between Kay Kay menon and lawyer, comes in the very beginning which sets the tone of the film and lastly, the 3 way conversation between Shukla ji( Anupam Kher), Ajay and Firoz which is humurous.
A special mention to Sushant Singh and Murali Sharma. Both of them were just excellent in whatever they got to do in this film. Rana Daggubati, madhurima and rasheez Naz were apt.
The screenplay was tight, never realised that I have already spent 3 hours in the theatre. Background music was Good. Dialogue were impactful specially the speech deliver by Maulana. The cinematography is excellent, action is raw and very much believable, no goons flying and people dying due through gunshots rather flying.
Lastly, this film is not a stereotypical patriotic film but still is. It has no jazbati dialogue, no long monologue and no unneccesary heroism. So keep your hopes with this film realistic and just go and enjoy sheer brilliance.
