I visited Goa with my family last X-mas. It was the most wonderful X-Mas I ever had in my life. The beach is very popular because of the presence of foreign tourist. The beach is very clean and organized with lots of sun beds, umbrellas, masseurs, boat rides, ALCOHOL and everything one can think of. I would say that Baga is toooooo expensive; but that keeps it clean, organized and untouched from the dirty crowd. There are couple of good eating joints and pubs on the beach like Titos and Shack to name a few. During the day (10am-5pm) one can take sun bath (Indians dont need that), play with waves have coconut water, fresh fruits, beer, wine etc etc..... can have masseurs give you good massage. While in the evening one can tap their feet with Awesome music, see those dance troops performing live fire shows and can party from 7pm till 4 am. During the night, the restaurants host barbecue, grilling full size fishes, lobsters, crabs etc etc. The lane that connects baga-calangute road to the beach, is full of stores selling funky clothes, accessories, cosmetics and food items. I tried eating SHARK there.......uuummmmmmm....no comments.....lol...its good and something I can tell people that I have eaten once. Around Baga beach you get localites renting you bikes, which make your commuting in and around the city economic, fun and easy. Its advisable not to go on long drives(10km or more) on those bikes as its illegal. Petrol is available at every shops almost. What else........ATMs etc are there in Calangute. From Baga you can also get cabs for South Goa trip, Scuba driving, Cruise etc etc.
We stayed in Hotel Linda in between Baga and Calangute beach. The hotel is absolutely in the heart of the happening Baga road next to Cafe coffee day. The hotel rooms were too good with all facilities like bath tub, swimming pool and everything. But the behavior of their staff was RUDE and impolite. Though I booked my hotel 3 moths before visiting Goa , still all the good hotels were sold out, So its advisable to book rooms well in advance if you are planning to visit in X-MAS or NEW YEAR. Thats all I could think of. Oh! I forgot to mention the best part.....I was accompanied by my 1 year old daughter, Goa was her 1st trip and she had a GALA time. She used to eat all non-veg items that we had and cereals in coffee from Cafe Day.
