Bahrain - A Developing Nation

It’s hardly been days since the first elections in Bahrain took place. If you know about Middle East, then you would wonder what is happening in Bahrain.

YES! Bahrain is the first nation in the Gulf to hold elections. No other GCC country has ever been to that phase. The other countries are ruled by Kings and often call themselves as KINGDOMS. Bahrain is developing and Bahrainis are far better in their behaviour towards expatriates compared to people in any other Middle Eastern state.

My earlier article relates to the life in Dubai, an emirate that is a part of United Arab Emirates. Relating to the request I received from one of the member, I hereby write a review on Bahrain.

Bahrain is a group of 33 islands and all islands put together should be approximately the size of Singapore. It lies in the Middle East with Saudi Arabia to the left and Qatar to the right and a 27 kilometre long causeway links the Island to the eastern province of Saudi Arabia, ’Al-khobar’.

The island gets hot and humid in summer with temperature averaging 40+ Degrees during the day... However during the tourism period from November to March the temperature seems to be pleasant with warm days and cool nights.

English been widely spoken as Bahrain is a cosmopolitan country and is amongst the friendliest nations in the world. All in all Bahrain is never boring.

Visitors to Bahrain face no problems with their dressing sense until and unless they don’t wear anything...unlike other Gulf States its a safe and relaxed place.

Well! Shopping in Bahrain can be great fun... The Old Souq area often called MANAMA (also the name of the capital island) is never out of any stock. There are sights in Bahrain and its worth to visit the following places:

Al Areen Wildlife sanctuary - A sanctuary for Arabian wild life species including the Arabian Oryx. The park is specialised in Falcon Breeding and is one of the best places to visit.

Bahrain Fort - This fort is one of the archaeological place worth visiting. It contains structures from the past Dilmun, Assyrian & Portuguese eras.

Barbar & Diraz - This place is worth a visit and structures older than thousands of years can be found here.

Tree of Life - This green tree is located in the middle of the desert and the source of water is a mystery. Unfortunately for visitors its a difficult place to find as the signboards are not clear. Its advisable to ask for help and most people will be obliged to route you to the location.

Other places such as the Royal Tombs, Bait Al Quran, National Museum are places worth visiting though I never had a chance to visit these places.

Shopping in the Souq which is 100’s of years’ old is exciting and bargaining is possible in the Manama Souq area. If looking for modern shopping complexes its worth visiting the Seef mall and Geant shopping complex located in Manama.

Working in Bahrain is comparatively professional as it is also called as the ’Financial Hub of the Middle East’. Literacy level is high and most people are mild and are willing to help anytime. A cost of living is lower and trust me it’s a place to be!

Hotel accommodation is also cheaper and the staffs take responsibilities beyond their reach to achieve customer satisfaction. Clubbing in Bahrain is not as expensive as Dubai and alcohol is much cheaper. All kinds of food can be found in Bahrain and its worth to taste them...

If you trust me, Make a visit to Bahrain and experience it yourself.
