Neither am I an ex student of this school or do I have any siblings or children of my own studying here. Inspite of that I sincerely recommend this school for all girls staying in and around Bandra.
The biggest plus point (according to me) they have changed over from SSC to ICSE affiliation.
They have a huge playground and and excellent sports culture.
It is an extreemly student friendly school.
It is located in a very peaceful environment.
They have extra curricular activities which lead to the all round development of the girl child.
My reasons for this very favourable opinion are my interactions with Avabai students.
I had neighbours who were boarders in this school literally in the last century. Both the girls were complete duds. (Both of them failed in their first attempt at the board exam)The school management went all out to help these girls do well . The teachers used to provide them with extra coaching at no extra cost and never did these girls ever feel discriminated against as compared to the day scholars. This was in the 1980s.
At present too, one of my neighbours a learning disabled student, was given full encouragement by the school authorities .She excelled in sports, so she was made the sports captain of the school in her final year ignoring the fact that she was academically very weak. Now this girl is in her final year in college and representing her state and college in athletics and football and winning medals in both the fields.She is ever grateful to her school and does not hesitate to sing their praise to anyone who listens even today for encouraging her sporting capabilities.
Since the last couple of years I am tutoring a girl who has lived abroad for many years and is now an Avabai student. Another child who is academically very weak but a very good artist and sports person. This girl too, is being encouraged to excel in the fields she is good at and the teachers are going all out to help her even academically.
The school also has boarders who come from financially weak families, most of these girls are studying free in the school and there is no discrimination between them and the paying boarders either, There are special outings for boarders in the vacation and during festivals so that they dont feel left out of anything.
Keep up the good work Avabai. All these experiences with Avabai students has forced me to hold the school in very high esteem.
