With looks like that of a sophisticated torture room, the Laney IronHeart is literally capable of torturing out the maximum power from the cheapest pickups of any guitar. Popular amongst the metal-heads, the IronHeart have been known to deliver any kind of tone and do full justice to that specific genre. Right from the beefy, chunky metal rhythm tones to sweet sounding, singing lead tones, the IronHeart does justice to all of them. It WILL NOT disappoint to anyone regardless of which genre they play. The view of the handles, valves, tubes makes IronHeart looks like a cyborg and someone who is best at what they do. In short, this amp is an absolute beast!
Talking about the technical specs of the the metal grating shows four ECC83 preamp tubes and four 6L6 power tubes. The glow up in a red hellish light which screams for metal.
There are three channels to harness with separate volume controls for each. The EQ section for lead channel is separate whereas clean and rhythm channels share a single EQ section. The sensitivity of the EQ section makes the amp extremely versatile and flexible. You can tweak and get quite a lot different tones. Some of these channels; clean channel for example is also responsive to your pick attack.
One of the coolest things which I personally love is the amp is capable of sounding exactly the same at any volume level. You can turn down the volume to 1 and still get that beefy tone. More like Freddie:D Perfect for practicing metal in your bedroom when your grandma is watching Beverly Hills.
Adding additional effects via external processors and pedals is a breeze. The FX loop on the rear of the amp has a switchable level control which means you can easily switch your FX loop output level to match the level for your effects gear.
The Lead channel of the IRT120H is the most prominent one. The lead channel actually reveals the full capacity of the tubes in the amp. If you know how to set your EQ section, you can replicate almost any tone in the world regardless of what genre you’re into. The pre-boost when added to the clean channel can sound like heaven! Some final words about the it really impressed me with the dynamics and versatility. This is a metal weapon and can literally kill your opponent. The bulid quality is extremely sturdy. The footswitch provided along with it is very convenient and very strong.
Finally, I personally think the amp is a bit expensive but TOTALLY worth it. It is the perfect and the heaviest weapon for metal. I highly recommend this to all the serious players out there; not just metal players but also those who belong to any other genre. This amp is full of surprises considering its predecessor and will give you that satisfaction you’ve been looking for. Ciao!
