I purchased this guitar sometime ago; never really heard Alexi that much before buying it. Although after months of working on this axe and testing it in studio, at home and in gigs; I could now easily say that this is a guitar that defines metal.
This is more or less the PERFECT instrument if you are a metal player like I’m.
The guitar has an individual metal attitude to it. I’ve personally been a fan of maple necks and ebony fingerboards.
I personally think this guitar handles the dry tones much, much better than the wet ones. I highly recommend this guitar if your Style of playing is aggressive on both rhythms. This guitar really isn’t made for high reverb high delay lead tones for playing melodic solos(although this guitar can do that too pretty well). If you are a guitarist that uses a lot of tremolo and pinches, take my word for it; you can’t get a better deal than this. This guitar was like a one-time investment for me. I seriously don’t think I would need to buy any other guitar.
I tested the guitar out in studio as well as gigs. The single humbucker is more than enough to get that punch in studio and live shows. If you actually think about it, it’s better that way; no extra hassle. A single pickup and a single tone control. I tried playing open chords and arrpegios with a bit of overdrive and a full-on distorted tone. Surprisingly the notes rung out perfectly clean and clear. Now here is the best part according to me. The grover tuners are just amazing. I’ve used the tremolo aggressively and dive bombed throughout the day(literally!), the guitar was still perfectly in tune. The grover tuners are the best part because I’ve actually played three different songs on different tunings on-stage. One in drop D, another in drop C and another one in open C. The guitar was never out of tune. I seriously couldn’t have asked for more.
The thin U profile in the maple neck makes the guitar even better for shredding. I bought this form bajaao.com in white sometime ago. Haven’t been disappointed ever since. Neither with the guitar nor with Bajaao’s service. The guitar was delivered sooner than expected. The packaging was very professional and safe. Not even a single scratch on the guitar. Totally satisfied with the money I spent on this.
