Bajajs got an upper-hand on the bike industry in India in the recent times post its Pulsar was released. The definitely male campaign of the Pulsar proved good enough for so many buyers to grab the bike and give it a spin.
Now will the new cruiser from Bajaj, the Avenger DTSI 180 prove as good a product and will sales remain as high ?
Well, if advertisements of products were as good as sales, Bajaj has a winner here...

The Ad...
...shows a cool young guy riding the cruiser amidst rugged terrain. Hes wearing a cool cruiser helmet with glares and chugging through the snaky mountainous roads. The background score starts....a coooool rhythmic riff which I love and which sets the tune for the whole commercial. It takes brains as large as peanuts to guess who the bike is targeted to - the youth of the country who are happy to settle for a good looking large cruiser model without the hassles of handling a real Enfield...fair enough.
As the guy streaks through the roads....he starts reminiscing...
I forgive....
My dad...
Cutscene which shows his dad slappin him...
My Boss....
Cutscene which shows his boss throwin a bunch of papers at him...
the girls...
Cutscene shows a gal...what else!!
The guy then passes over a pothole and so next he
forgives the government...
Wait...we then come across another guy on a Hero-Hondaish bike kicking away vainly at it as our man passes him..
So the dude forgives...
his past... (heh now thats fun!)
and as he roars past some fields he forgives em all
Then comes the punchline...
Having forgiven all of the above, needless to say the homo-sapien in question says..
I feel like...I feel Like GOD !!!
And then the man with his machine struts away into the horizon...

Er...the occurrences might be in some other order so please pardon any mistakes there..
All in all, I did feel that the entire impact of the ad said what it meant to say and hit the target bang on to those people who will have some tug upon their heart-strings to at least test-drive the bike. I personally think a almost-there cruiser with the dtsi engine of a 180 cc pulsar isnt my cup of tea..if I would buy a cruiser, I would buy a real 350 cc or 500cc one and not a wannabe type..although it certainly doesnt look as bad as the Enticer and is meaner than the Eliminator and cheaper as well..in fact its going to be the best cruiser in its segment in India once its launched...all that being besides the point...and not meant to offend anyone...just personal thoughts...
The core concept of the guy riding the bike and forgetting all else, and that inculcated cool-cruiser-macho-guy-attitude works well. The background riff is what attracted me to the ad in the first place and then the next times I saw it....but the concept was pretty cool as well...
So whos going for the Avenger....and forgivin and forgettin all else...??
Any takers for feelin like God out there yet ??
