Here’s my story. I had very recently been to the USA for a few months when my Mom suddenly decided to surprise me with a brand new Avenger Bike (180cc) from Khivraj Motors, Kasturba Road, Blore. Mom took the help of a friend and got the bike home & sworn him to secrecy not to reveal a word about it to me...Surprise!!!! ahhh!:) I landed last month& my family surprised me with that new bike parked in my own room!...
Yes, they had managed to park that monster in my room! Great story. I decided to take the baby out for a spin & bought matching fancy helmets (yes 2 of them). The ’Feels like God moment’ moment: I rode around my colony for a few minutes, & then suddenly the Accelarator cable snaps at the handle end!! She had not even done 3 figures yet! Viola...! What a Divine feeling!
Felt like god. With his Ok, big deal, this happens sometimes. It is only a cable. I can get it fixed. Bajaj dealers will definitely have stock of cables...Wont they? Apparently, the one pro-biking (yeah, right!) dealer near Banashankari did not... I called up the seller, Khivraj motors, Kasturba Road, who told me to get the bike to their service station which is about 15 KM from my place...!
When I asked them how anybody could ride a bike 15KM with a snapped cable, the guy suggested something only people from circus group could pull off without problems. Get a pillion rider friend to bend forward & keep pulling at the accelarator assembly near the gear shift lever while you man the bike & you can ride forever...Ahh, Feels like GAWD again! ..
This circus stunt, on Blore roads? Near MG Road? What for? For a faulty accelarator cable that should not have bothered me at least on my first day & these guys have the audacity to be so riduculous in their suggestions\customer service.
Yeah, yeah, It happens only in India(remember that song?)! Swalpa Adjust maadi saaar I had earlier (Avenger had just been introduced then) complained about this dealer about them trying to force sell optionals like teflon coating, etc, by lying that it should be purchased as part if the std package....I did not buy it then for this reason.
Latest Update: I am still waiting for the dealer near my place (Probiking Auto Service, Banashankari II stage) to call me when he gets a set of Accelarator cable...!!!. Makes me wonder whether the bike I bought is a latest offering from a trusted company (Hamaaaaraaa Bajaj) or a stupid vintage bike from a shady, road side ’muc-ah-nic sawp’
