I think now its time to write a review of my Bajaj Avenger 200, bought this bike in 2008 Aug, one hell of a machine, loved everything about it. I bought the bike on friday and for next 2 days I was literally on bike all the time, did 400 kms on saturday and sunday, covered New Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad and Noida. One hell of experience:-)
Since then I have made numerous trips, mostly outstation, I dont use bike in my daily commute. I have done -
Delhi to Jaipur - 3 times
Delhi to Alwars - 5 times
Delhi to Lucknow - 6 times
Delhi to Chandigad - 2 times
Delhi to rishikesh - 2 times
Engine
Surprisingly good, bajaj is not known for its engines, but my bike has supported me on toughest of terrains, be it heat, rain or cold. Engine never budged. Always had best power from bike., No black smoke no suspicious noise from engine never.
Average
True to what they say, twin spark gives around 45 on highways never tested in city condition. One Recommendation - never get your bike tunned for milege you will literally screw-up the bike. Company says bike will give 45 KMPL accept it, enjoy the bike.
Stability, Design and Chasis
Very Stable, Very Sterdy, Solid. I like to ride rough, I dont care of terain, many times I have left tarmac to admire thrill of village road, bike will give you full control and stability. Yes will feel tired if you do stunts. This is a heavy bike.
Maintainence
Costly I will say, none of the service cost me less than 1500Rs, I am in a habbit of replacing parts rather than
Update -
Keep your bike away from moist or damp atmosphere, all chrome(headlamp indicators) and Metal will get rust.
Clean your bike everyday, any water drops can start rusting and be very careful around bolts & screws. I would suggest to oil them or apply any other coating.
If you go for tank full, always keep petrol level to 1 inch below tank open. If bikes tank is over flooded it will leak when bike is resting on side stand. I have had this problem so be careful there. I found out 10ltr is OK quantity.
Regularly clean fuel tanks surface it tends to fade in sun so always apply some protective coating, I used to rub mustard oil but that attracts too much dirt(although bikes looks very sexy), You can go for waxpol or any wax polish.
You would have to readjust left side rear view else it will be useless.
Bikes chrome will throw lots of sparkle in your eyes, eventually you will adjust to it till then put on some stylish glasses.
Loose that heavy helmet it will make your neck hurt, buy a light.
