Came across this very stylish presentation from the house of Bajaj. One of my friends had recently bought the all new Bajaj Avenger Street 220cc bike and having driven the bike for some time now, I am really pleased with this new instalment from Bajaj.
The company, which is the host of the highly popular Pulsar series and is known for fast and sturdy bikes like Discover, brings out a completely different model this time. From looks to performance, everything about this new bike is worth praising and it seems Bajaj has done a good job this time as well in delivering the right expectations to its customers.
Design – The Avenger, as the name suggest, has been designed in an iconic style. Sporting the Harley Davidson look, the Bajaj Avenger seems to be a counterpart of the very famous bike. The handle has been designed in an oval shape that bends to reach the rider. In between the rider and the handle, comes the fuel tank that has been modified to a lot extent. The tank bulges inwards towards the rider and then goes up to form a crescent towards the handle. Seat of the Avenger is best suited for two persons. The seat in declined for the rider’s position and then as the Pulsar series, raises a little higher for the passenger position. The headlight is in the form of a small circular disk with a powerful focus. On the top is the speed meter and fuel indicator. Bajaj has stuck to the modern style of the meters and the bike has a digital meter. The front tyre is completely free with only a guard whereas the back tire is covered with the suspension.
Performance – The Bajaj Avenger 220cc comes with a powerful DTS-i engine with twin spark plugs. So far I have ridden the bike for a good time now and have not been able to detect any performance issues. The engine performs to its best with minimal sound. When the bike is moving, there is absolutely no annoying sound and the ride is super smooth. Owing to the heavy weight of the bike, it provides a superior grip on the road. Another plus point of the bike is its handling which is highly efficient as the bike takes a little effort on the worsts of roads. Overall, performance wise, I would give a full thumbs up to the Avenger as it does a fabulous job on road with its smooth ride and no-hassle ride.
Features – Along with great performance comes great features. The Bajaj Avenger sports a wide back tyre for a more stable ride. This really helps in devastated roads. Besides, there is a 12-spoke and 9-spoke alloy wheels in the front and back respectively, which looks captivating. Moreover the bike has been powered with an Oil Cooled engine that promises a cool engine throughout the journey and longer durability. Bajaj Avenger Street also comes with a self-start. On a normal road, the bike gives a mileage of around 40Kmpl. However for roads having a little bad condition, the average mileage reduces to 30Kmpl. Disk braking has been provided only to the front tyre and not on the rear part.
Overall Conclusion – Overall I feel the bike is one of the best designed bikes from the house of Pulsar. Though the bikes lacks a good mileage, its stylish looks and superior performance makes up for it. The classic design is an eye-catcher at every point and the smooth handling makes it worth the price. Priced around Rs.84000 to Rs.95000 depending on states, the bike is a stealer.
