It looks great!

This is only my second review on bikes after TVS Centra - my favourite bike as it combines style, mileage and performance unlike CT-100 which got no style. The review is at https://mouthshut.com/readreview.php?rid=55563&r=1

Hope you like this one.....as now I am trying the bikes from sports and movies for once and try to continue if you like it.....I am wondering whether it got any chance among the other 46 or 47 reviews.....

INTRODUCTION

Bajaj seems to have too much bikes on the road - BYK, Boxer, CT-100, Caliber 115, Wind 125 and Pulsar. Well, that brings too much competition among these ones. When there is Caliber, why did they introduce Wind? It may be to give some more selection for those don’t want to buy a big one like Pulsar which is quite a common bike now especially among college lads.

But now Caliber seems to have lost its importance because of the wide variety of choices in the whole as well as from Bajaj itself. I can’t even see even one Caliber on the road these days. Pulsar seems to leading Bajaj’s way with lots of sales. I have never owned Caliber, but my friend certainly owns one and he always talks about the greatness of the bike. After riding it, I felt that it was good enough to write a review about.....

LOOKS & STYLE

The bike surley has got some great graphics which will not let you take your eyes off this one. I just love differences in style and this bike got some differences in looks from the earlier bikes. The head lamp loooks great, but similiar to the Wind. It got a look similiar to a bat from the front. The tail lamp looks nice too, but I like Centra’s tail better.

The lining of the fuel tank is much better than other bikes. Comparing with Passion and Splendor, the looks of this one is too great as they seems to have put some good efortrs into this bike. It looks the best in gold green, I think that it got the looks of a highly powerful racing bike even if thats not that much powerful.

It got some other colours for choice too - ash black, flame red, star blue, gun metal blue etc. The exhaust looks just ordinary. It surely got big improvement from the first Caliber with some stylish looks. The sound doesn’t sound good to me, but my friend likes it and says that it is due to some problem in the silencer.

With a weight of 118 kg, it is not hard to use for any one. It looks very solid and seems to have got a steel body similiar to Randy Orton of the WWE. If you have seen the green Caliber cruising through the roads, do remember this.

MILEAGE & PERFORMANCE

Caliber’s 111.6cc 4-stroke engine boasts of a 90kmpl mileage in standard conditions. My friend’s bike has become quite old now, and he is only learning to drive and is using it in a bit rough way and so it will not be good to look for what mileage he gets in the bike (It’s nearly 60).

He says that the bike is quite trust worthy as his father didn’t have much problems with it so far. The power of engine is impressive at 9.5bhp (7KW) @8000rpm and the maximum torque is 9.12Nm@6500rpm. It has Digital CDI ignition (I don’t know what it is) and they says that it reaches 0-60 in 7.99 seconds and the maximum speed is 99.72.

Its fuel tank looks flat, but has a fuel capacity of 14 litres with 2 litres as reserve! That’s cool! The gear shift was exceptionally good and the turnings and braking wasn’t a problem. I have driven only limited bikes which makes me wonder whether this bike is better than many others of the same class.

The suspension was really good even if that was quite an old bike. Actually, I have not gone past 40 km/hr because he didn’t allow me to. A fifth gear would have been interesting, but I can do without it. Actually, I am a fan of Victor due to its performance!

CONCLUSION

Those who wants a lean bike, not a fat one like Pulsar can go for this bike, especially those who prefer Bajaj. It costs only 37, 990 here on road which is quite amazing. All other bikes between 105 and 125 costs more, which makes me wonder how Bajaj sells their bikes at low cost like Boxer?

It is quite an achievement by Bajaj as even 106cc Libero and 109.2cc old Victor cost much more than our Caliber. The only problem is that how will these people of the Bajaj manage to sell all these bikes at the same time? It will surely accept the sales of one or two of these bikes.

I hope it will still be in market for a long time as I like the green Caliber very much. I would have gone for this bike, but the service of the TVS agency here is fantastic and he is my father’s close friend and we were looking for the best mileage which made us buy TVS Centra which was quite outstanding. The Bajaj dealer didn’t seem interested in selling Caliber or Boxer. He seemed to be looking for some one to buy Pulsar!

The price factor makes Caliber a good choice. But I can’t say its great because I have used it only a few times as I used to drive it when my friend was just learning driving. Do make more enquiries before going for this product. There are lots of highly impressive reviews so far on this topic in mouthshut as well as outside it.
