I have completed 26000 kms on my two year old CT100 DLX. Yes that is nearly 13000 kms per year and 1000 odd kilometers per month!
Basically what interested me in buying this bike was the fuel efficiency and belive me I am not dissapointed! It has been consistently returning 60 to 60kmpl which I am OK with.
Here are some of the Main features of the Bike:
Exaust Tec:
This is a technology bajaj introduced in the DLX models. Basically what this does is: it gives lowend grunt to the engine, For example:- I am able to run the bike in 4th gear at 20kmph, without jerking or stalling the engine. Belive me there are times when I have taken the bike from a stand still to crusing speed directly from 4th gear. of course it was on plane ground and no inclination with some clutch slipping. Talking about torque.I almost had a TVS Star guy eat dirt at a Rail signal stop.
17 Inch wheels:
The DLX model came with smaller wheels than the regular earlier model. At first I did find it difficult to maneuvour it since I was used to the 18inch wheels of my old Bajaj Caliber. but soon after getting a hang of it. you can flick this bike like anything in tight traffic signals its light weight is an added advantage to it. I can just lift and park it like a bicycle in parking lots.( of course not bot the wheels;-))
SNS suspension:
Well with almost 1000 kms per month, I have not got any back sprains/aches( Touchwood) till now. So basically the suspension is pretty decent and gives a cushy ride. as for the pillion. I once remember my friend sitting at the back telling me that he felt more comfortable on this rather than at the back of a Gas shox Pulsar 150.
Ride control switch:
This is pure nonsense. All it does is it introduces some clicks in the throttle movement, There were clicks at the first few months in the throttle movement reminding me not to open the throttle completly in order to get a better average. But what the heck, being stingy on an already fuel efficient bike was a bit too much for me. Now there are multiple clicks on the throttle which I hardly notice and ignore it completly with the ride control switch on or off.
Coming back to my overall experience of owning this bike for nearly two years:
Not even once have I had an issue with engine giving up on me or not turning on.
Above 40 kmph there is a lot of vibrations.
I have so far managed to touch 95kmph on this chick( Will post the speedo pic soon for proof)
The major costs of spares I have spent on this bike till date is that of the Chain sproket set which costed me about 700/= approx, which I feel should be changed every 20, 000kms as this part undergoes an lot of friction and where and tear.
I have changes about 4 brake pads for the rear wheels and none for the front till date.
The only problem I am facing now is that of an annying sound when rear brakes are applied( sounds more like the sound you get from the trucks when they use power brakes)
I ve changed the prake pads but no good. need to get it checked from a Bajaj service centre.
Overall its a great product and as I said you get what you paid for.
Its a decent package for the price you pay. If you are looking at a Kick and go bike this is for you . Provided bajaj continues production of this model.
