Discover135-good bike but still needs experience

This is my first ever review on mouthshut.

Anyway, to start with Discover 135 is my second bike after riding for years, Hero Honda Splendor.

I was looking for any alternative because of aging splendor(its not that it is not good for me now but wanted to have some change and also splendor looks are no more attractive for me.).

Coming back to why I choose this(discover) bike is, good looks(best in any bike as per my taste), read all about maintainance, mileage and all . on many reviewing sites and given me confidence that I can go for this. Moreover, test rides(3 times) blostered my confidence in this bike. For me additional point is its almost flat seat(unlike many other bikes in this category-having step-seats, which are although good for young generation-college going because of very obvious advantages but for a guy like me having family with kid.flat seat is much much better.).

Now coming to Likes of this bike.

  1. Good looks(pilot lamps & all black with blue graphics on it. I just loved.yes, mine one is Disc135 with blue graphics)

  2. Flat seat(good for family with kid)

  3. DTS-i technology(not available in any other bike)

  4. Good shock absorbers(rear ones are NITROX and adjustable according to our need)

  5. Good indicators(with flexible rods-important for me because I just don’t like indicators hanging on bike after some accident or someone do it deliberately.)- Feature almost reduced maintainance cost.

Dislikes

  1. Small fuel guage( I guess must be difficult to calibrate properly)-Although I doesnt have much experience on this because I just purchased my bike few weeks before and is not yet caliberated fuel guage by myself.

  2. Not good for tall people(yes, this is always been said and no proper explaination is given)-This is because if you are taller than 5 feet 10 inch then surely your legs will not hug petrol(fuel) tank properly.you may feel your knees are just touching the curve(or I can say. lining on tank) on tank and you may not be comfortable with that.

  3. No hugging pad on rear tyre(yes bajaj has given the same for 110 and 125 models but not for 135. also given for pulsars but not for 135- strange.!)-this can cause mud splashing and the person on rear seat may have dirty clothes.

Driving experience

By now, I have just finished hundreds of Kms and for that riding comfort is best.

I never felt like any vibrations(though I have not crossed 45-50 km/h speed yet-as upto 2000 km run it is not good for engine to travel with more than this speed).

Good pick-up(goes from 0 to 40 within 5-6 seconds with fourth gear in place - from neutral(on city road with lots of pot-holes and all).

Indicator buttons(push-cancel) types are very good.

Horn is powerful.

Mirror view is not so good as half of the mirror I see myself(by whatever possible adjustment)- this might be changed by changing mirrors or doing proper setting of the fixed mirros-I have to look into this matter.

No glitch in gear box(as most people claim to have some kind of.). No false neutral( I asked for this to salseman to which he said, it was there for earlier models but now bajaj has solved the problem-but anyway, I will update all of you once I finish thousands of Km run.

No chain noise as per now.(may be because bajaj has removed chain cover(half) on the notion that they wanted to have sporty look(somewhat) for this bike(really? or it is gimmick to get rid of chain noise?).

Disc brakes(front) are good- I normally apply both breaks simulteneously or front brake when speed is slowed down after applying rear breaks.

Mileage-Can’t say right now as I should finish my first servicing and should have atleast thousand(s) of Km run.

Electronic start-Never gave me any problem.Normally in the morning I start bike with kick and latter in a day I use ES. but one or 2 times, I do started my bike in the morning(first time in a day) with ES and ohhh.it started in first push. good one.

Who should and should not go for this vehicle.!

As I mentioned earlier, person taller than 5 feet 10 inch should check(think) twice about this bike because of no proper knee resting on tank.

I do recommend this product as of now.but hye pl remember I have not rode this bike for long and not yet talked about mileage. All experience of mine is just on few weeks use of this bike.

Fuel consumption and reliablity I have given only one mark because. yet I don’t know about it. and without giving rating review was not acceptable to this site.!

I will update you all once I finish substantial running.!

Thanks for reading.!
