BEWARE! everyone out there, planning to buy this bike. My true experience with Discover 125 ST Story starts somewhere in the Dec 2012, I wanted to buy a bike which I could use to goto office which is around 30KM from my house.
I searched a lot and read hudreds of reviews on different different bikes including splendor, passion, shine and discover. My need was mileage bike with price around 60-62K and I brought down my search on Shine and Discover 125 ST.
Look wise I found discover best in 125 cc class and on road 65k with disk break and all.I could have go for Honda Shine but just it was not offering Disk break in this price so decided to buy Discover, and there I made a biggest mistake, which I started realizing after 6 to 7 months of use.I purchased my Bajaj Discover 125 ST in Feb 2013, during first 1000 kms I maintained the speed below 50kmph, took all precautions and kept on servicing regularly.
After that I decided to raise the driving speed to 60 or 70, but trust me friends, it starts vibrating even around 55kmph and engine makes noise at such a low speed. Then I decided to keep the speed around 50 only, but one fine day while coming from office, bike suddenly stopped in the middle of highway. I got scared, what suddenly happend!. I tried starting it up but all efforts went in vain.
Then I called up mechanic, he put in some oil by removing plug and kicked, he might wanted to clean something inside. The bike started but he said that there is a major problem in engine, like all the 4 valves are damaged.
I went to the bajaj service center where I usually service my bike and asked for warranty, (as they say that engine warranty is 2years) the person said there is no warranty on engine, I surprised! on what part do they provide warranty. I ran it for another 2 months and again it stopped in the middle of the road which now required to change all the 4 valves.
Besides this major problem there are many other things that required change like Disk break kit changed once. The gear shifting problem was there right from the day I purchased. Guys if you really want to buy a good bike then don’t waste your hard earned money on such a scrap. Many of those who owns this bike may not agree to what I have written, they might be right also as they might not have faced the problem, but trust me guys if it starts giving problem then you would be left with only one option, to sell it at low price. Only one thing I am satisfied with is a mileage, got 60 kmpl at a speed of 45 to 50. I have shared my true experience, I genuinely feel that spend your money to get something worth.
