I finally bought the discover 135 after going through a lots of research in the internet. I wanted to buy a bike with a bit of power and a good mileage. *Initially I thought of pulsar150, , , but I found that pulsar150 gives the mileage only about 40-45 kmpl which is not good in my context (:scarcity of fuel in Nepal). Also pulsar costs quite high in nepal about 20, 000NRS more than discover 135. Within the researches, I found that discover 135 gives the *mileage of about 55kmpl *and delivers the power of *13.1ps *which was only about *1ps less than pulsar. So I decided to buy discover 135. It cost me arround 1, 40, 000NRS in total including accessories like leg-guard, dickey, seatcover, helmet etc. Showroom price in Nepal is 1, 37, 900NRS. The service of Bajaj in Nepal is very good , , 4 free-service given by Bajaj Auto Ltd. and 16 additional bonus free-services are given by the dealer (Other companies give only about 6 free services, as I was told when I visited other company dealers before buying the bike).
Till now I have gone only 130km, following the suggestions given in the bike-mannual I havent crossed 55-kmph mark. I felt good, riding this bike. Pickup is great, no vibration, no chain noise, engine is smooth, no gear problem. The suspensions (front->telescopic-130mm travel & rear->nitrox with hidraulic shock absorver) are great. I own the discover with blue strips on black theme which I like most. The sporty looking chain cover is nice. The fuel-meter is small so its hard to callibrate the petrol in tank. The disk brake is very good, even the rear wheel drum brake is good. The wider rear-tyre(100/90 X 17, 52P) makes the bike look more powerful. The engine has very good Low End Torque, *I have ridden it in 20 kmph on 4th gear (5th gear is missing in this bike, but still the bike is faster than others in this category). The *Ride Control *switch which is purely mechanical, works fine, I am riding with *Ride Control ON *and I have heard that one can go upto 60-62 kmph within its limit (fuel economy zone). Since there is Ride Control switch, the *tacheometer doesnt have the green mark *within the engine speed markings to show the fuel economy zone. Coming on to the electrical systems, the *headlight is little poor than I expected. The horn is also small, doesnt fit with this powerful bike, should have 2 horns.
After buying the bike, I filled 2 litres of petrol to test the mileage, the fuel lasted for 122KM as shown in odometer, there was 5km initially in the odometer, so the actual covering distance by the bike was *117KM by two litres of petrol *(40% city and 60% highway) .
Any one who is looking for good power with good mileage within the 125/135cc category can go for this bike. Your confidence of riding the bike, once you ride this, will rise higher because of very good handling & control and comfort provided by this bike.
Discover is not a very sexy looking bike such as TVS-Flame but still it is a good looking bike. Any one who doesnt want the power in bike and wants only the great mileage can go for 100cc bikes because other 125cc and 135 cc bikes dont give the mileage as Discover.
I think Discover-135 is the best in its category.
*UPDATE Sept 6, 2009
Namaste, I am editing this review after a long time. it has become exactly 23 months, I bought this bike. Within this long time, it has only run 20000 KMs, since I dont have to ride much. But its still giving mileage of around 50KMPL, about my riding: avg speed 55-60 KMPH, In the highway I go upto 80 KMPH. so, isnt it great?? Its performance can be sensed in the hill and mountain regions with 30-35 degree slope roads where it can run easily along with a pillion with 3nd and 4th gears, some times 2nd gear with more slope, you dont have to come down to 1st gear.
A great bike.... but now I am making up my mind to upgrade to 150 pulsar.*
