BABY Pulsar!

Yes it is indeed a ’baby pulsar’ in looks!

Same muffler design and almost same fairing makes it look like a pulsar from a distance.

Still there is something to discover!

There are three Bajaj Discover variants to choose from.

The lowest version is a plane jane version with a round headlight.

It boasts a powerful 60/55W headlamp.

The intermediate version has a pulsar like fairing(seems as if Bajaj itself has fallen for the twin city lights!), a bit wider, and an electric start. The top model sports all the goodies - electric start, disc brake, six spoke alloys and a tachometer.

THe engine is again a DTSi delivering 11.34 bhp at 8000rpm. Although the silencer looks just like a pulsar`s it is different from the inside. Bajaj with its patented ExhausTEC technology has done some tweaks inside to make it much better than pulsar.

The review would be incomplete without the mention of the unique ’ride control switch’ which tells the rider when to ease off the accelerator, thereby giving a constant mileage and hence economy. The biggest turn off was an all down 4 speed gear box. It would have been much better if Bajaj would have provided a 5th gear, atleast as an option! Some of the vital stats are:

Engine capacity: 124.52cc

Max power: 11.34bhp at 8000rpm

Max torque: 1.10kgm at 6500rpm

Wheelbase: 1305mm

Ground clearance: 175mm

Fuel tank capacity: 10 litres

Kerb weight: 125kg

Gearbox: 4-speed manual, 4-down

Brakes: Front 240mm disc(only on top model)/ 130mm drum

Tyres:

Size (front/rear) 1.6x17’’/ 1.85x17’’

Tyre size (f/r) 2.75x17’’/ 3.00x17’’

Bajaj has worked on the technical aspects but it needs to work on looks as well so as to come out with some innovative and fresh things that are worth discovering!!!
