My name is Mohan, I got my discover125 in june2005 from supreme bajaj, mangalore. I went for this bike mainly for its power of 11.5 bhp and excellent fuel efficiency. The bike was very good except gear changing problem during first 4, 500 kms, then there was increased noise and vibration in the engine and gearbox, sometimes unbearable near my left foot. Changing gears in Mangalore up-sloping roads was very embarassing, the bike used to stall many times. I couldnt believe that this bike with 11.5 bhp could not carry 2 people properly (my fathers old cd100 delux was much better as it used to go effortlessly compared to discover with 2 people in the very same roads). Also if you ride for more than 25 kms continously lot of heat near legs, this is not happening on my fathers cd100.
At about 11, 000 kms I became suspicious about its fuel efficiency. as I used to fill up the tank very often. I took it to bajaj showroom for mileage check up, sadly they dont have the equipment (hero honda service centers have this simple kit according to my friend) to measure fuel efficiency precisely . I did fuel efficiency check myself on NH 17, it managed to do just 45.7 kms on one full liter, so in city it is around 40 kmpl- very bad fuel efficiency. But my friends super splendor 125cc is giving him more than 60 kmpl though it has crossed 20, 000 kms.
This bike did not satisfy me (in fact frustrated me) in terms of power & fuel efficiency for which I purchased, plus it gave me headache many times right in the middle of roads due to engine stalling. Recently, bajaj mechanic was saying new discover125 is good, my question is that why bajaj sold discovers with faults?. One more point is the service of bajaj will magnify small problems - very bad.
Please avoid this useless bike, Im planning to sell this useless bike and I may buy Unicorn or Apache. 125cc bike buyers please go for super splendor which is giving good fuel efficiency and also maintainence is lesser, no headache. I dont know about suzuki zues, yamaha gladiator and honda shine, I think these bikes are better than discover125.
Thank you
