Discover DTSI 100- complete value for money bike.

I purchase this bike on 20 Aug 2010. I am writing this review after use of 11000 kilometer.

I Purchased this bike after long research and review about this bike.  Previously I was using Bajaj Chetak Scooter. The scooter was running fine after 17 years also and I want to change the scooter due to poor mileage and Oil cost which is to be mixed in petrol. I was in Indian Air Force and was having transfer every  after 3-4 year. The strong scooter remained with me all paces  like reliable partner and never failed.

Initially, I was having impression that Bajaj Bikes are made from lower grade materials and hence the are cheap as compared with other bikes. I was having two other choices, Hero honda passion Pro, or Honda shine. I am having splendor bike at my home. It is a stable bike, but looking as a advanced version of moped.

It is not going above 60 kmph speed and if trying, engine rpm is increasing. As I was having one bike of same brand, so want to go for some other brand. Honda Shine was in my mind due to its decent looks and 125 CC power. But I read in many review that its mileage is lower and it will give average mileage of 50-55 kmpl. Same was the approx mileage of Passion Pro.

Due to day to day increase in the cost of petrol, I could not ignore the mileage of Discover and purchased the bike in  almost 5-7 k cheaper than the passion pro or honda shine (Rs. 48000 ON road at Pune). Need not to fit any other spare as every thing is fitted and your need not to buy any spare. First thing I observed in the bike that it is sound less. Initially I have to raise the accelerator at signals to ensure that the bike is on. Its pick- up was also smooth.  Surely, it is not head- turner bike, (Very attractive looking like yamaha bike) and is used by people who is relatively extra money conscious . In short, day to day commuter Budget Bike.

From the first day, it gives the milage of above 70 kmpl in Pune city which can not be achieved with any other bike. Riding is very smooth till date. As I previously mentioned in one of my review, it is not a power bike. If you want to get power, then go for power bikes. This bike is easily going upto 50 KMPH and after that you have to raise the accelerator more. Comfortable riding with single driving but it can work with a pillion rider with average weight.

The bike have not given any trouble other than starting problem in morning. In  Cold morning sometimes it is not starting. Neither it is starting with Auto nor with kick. If the bike is not starting with auto, it is not starting with kick also. You have to go office in time, then you are help less. Even if it starting and as you raise accelerator, again going off. As there is no manual choke, you can not keep the choke on. It automatically goes off. This has happened few times since I purchased this bike.

This is the case at Pune whether winter is very mild / negligible. Just think about cold places like Srinagar, where I was for 2 years. I think in such places this bike will not start at all. There I had used my old bajaj chetak even on snow also where driving is extremely difficult.

If you ignore the power factor & sometimes starting trouble in morning if the bike is kept idle even for 1-2 days, then this bike is fine. It always gives mileage above 70 kmpl and a Very comfortable ride up to 50 kmph speed. It is still very economical and travels Rs 1 per KM after so much increase in petrol price. No expense/ part replacement is made to the bike other than regular servicing.

Lastly one advice. Always do servicing by good mechanic who is having knowledge of  servicing this kind of bikes. Other wise they will spoil the setting of your bike and you will not get desired mileage. In cold mornings start &  keep your bike on in neutral for a few minuter before actual move have keep few minute in your hand.

Happy riding.
