Discover125 update after first service

Hi guys this is an update as promised after taking the bike through its first service. You bet I have something important to tell.

Well to reflect on things mentioned in my previous posting, thankfully, I dont have anything to retract but I am not very happy with the flip sides I mentioned in this bike(refer my previous review)- they have not improved.

First, the mileage, as I think it is the one that’s serious; It simply dosent get better and as I checked it out after the first service, well I got stunned , it measured at roughly 42kmpl or 41.88 km/litre to be exact. Now you dont have to take this at face value as I intend to give the ride conditions. I use the bike mainly for commuting to work and some miscellaneous rides during the weekends, hence it has been taken for a fairly continuous rides and no short jerky ones that reduce mileage. I logged a healthy 800 km for the first service and have rode with the ride control switch mostly on even when without it being on, I know the range for good fuel efficiency and havent grossly exceeded it. Well under these conditions what does anyone expect- A good show on mileage performance.

I was under the impression that the mileage would improve after the first service(it recorded 48kmpl before service) what the hell is wrong then?? come on guys, its not a short difference from bajaj’s claim of 65+ kmpl on road, at least at 60kmpl I wouldnt have minded. This is way off the mark and I really suspect some of the reviewers here who have gone claiming a mileage figure of 65-70 kmpl. I hope this site isnt infiltrated by the company’s marketing agents.

Second, the gears still make a good clacking sound and feels odd when changing gears, sounding like uh..oh..novice changing gears. But its not that important.

Apart from the above the bike performance in other areas mentioned in my previous review is still good. So looks like the weak points observed are going to remain so. I any way, am going to enquire about this serious shortfall in mileage from the distributor or the bajaj people themselves. Any new developments on this will be posted here.

I happened to read the overdrive mag kept at the distributor premises when I went to checkout my bike after service, it contains nothing but unbridled passion for writing let go wild without any justification for feeling so. It does have some info but dont be fooled by all the praise heaped there.

Thanks for reading,

PS: I commented about the indicator-light indicators on the front panel not the indicator themselves as one feed back for my earlier review implied.
