First of all thanks to all who takes time to write down pros & cons in their reviews. This really helps, I decided on Discover mostly based on 20 odd reviews.
I bought Discover ES Top end model on Jan 05, more than 3 months & 1400 Kms of running. I almost want to buy splendor, but lately decided for this as I found that more advantages at cost of little mileage (may be 5-10 kmpl). The highlights are:
Excellent ride & control especially helps in crowded places within city
Good Low End Torque - helps in not requiring changing gears often, can go in 15 kmph on 4th gear!
Good pickup & power, extremely smooth while running at 40-50 kmph
Both kick and self start works really well, seating arrangement & vehicle balance is well designed, also very well for short height people.
Some disadvantages are:
Though 2nd servicing is due, but mileage so far is bit disappointing, gives 45-50 kmpl, was expecting around 55 and above. Actually during first month it was just giving 30 kmpl! after 1st service it went up, I am hoping after 2nd service it will improve.
Bit disappointed that in Top end model, headlight is only 35 W (should be 60 as in low end model) though it is reasonably ok. The speedometer is not well designed, should be like pulsar (black/white combination instead of black/red), side stand indicator is missing.
Bit too heavy and few times the vehicle did skid, might be worth to watch out during rainy seasons
But overall inspite of disadvantages, it is really worth to go for it, considering many factors including comfort, and power. I think it is great for city roads & good for those looking for entry level bike with decent mileage.
