Bought it in Jan 2008 in and love the way my bike zooms past 60 the real play comes in. Mileage without pillion was 65+ in chennai traffic. Best engine oil suited for Discovers are as follows:
Gulf 20w - 40 - Decent performance.
Next tried Motul 15w50 mineral can be termed as best engine oil so far used.
Noticeable changes are as engine response improved & there is ample amount of torque allows me to use 4th gear at 2000 rpm (i.e.) 20 km /hr.. The maintenance done on my bikes are as follows:
Changed chain sprockets at 30K.
Using Mrf zapper TT at rear & Dunlop Zebra at front and ride quality improved a bit.
Upgraded spark plugs to Bosch twin electrode plug UR3DC and it fires up the engine without any hiccups.
Top Speed achieved on my bike is 95 with a pillion of 80 kg and me being 65 kg. The rpm rose to 9000 all the way without any hesitation. The nitrox suspension comes into play only while cruising in speed of 80+.
Short gearing ratios to be upgraded such that it will be boon in highway cruising.
Loved my bike in the rainy seasons as there are water clogged roads in chennai and my discover never let’s me down. I can zapp through on any rainy conditions. Extreme performance under those conditions.
Upgrades to be done as follows to improve the ride ability.
Suspension needs to be changed at rear.
Headlight needs to be upgraded to 55/60W.
Front disk brakes gets jammed at times when applied at high speed need to change it.
Low on maintenance side because done these regular services not exceeding 500 rs.
Now the mileage attained is 55 Kms per litre.
