PRO: fast, powerful
CONS: difficult to assemble, confusing and too many attachments, poor food processor, difficult to clean, noisy
We bought it about an year ago after much research from snapdeal. What made us choose it over other food processors are
- SAFETY: The food processor runs only when all the components are fitted properly, protects the user and also prevents incurring damages to the lock mechanism of the jars(which happened to our previous philips mixie).
Loophole: Though there is safety mechanism with the processor lid, i.e. it runs only when the lid is locked properly with aclick but there is no such thing with the mixie part, that is, it can run even when the lid of mixie is open.
- COCONUT SHREDDER: Perhaps, this is the only product which comes with a coconut shredder blade.
My views are
The processor has too many similar looking attachments which serves the purpose of only confusing you. It takes time to get accustomed to the parts and it functions only when the attachments are fitted properly, and it may take more than few tries before actually getting started such that one might start thinking that they have recieved a defective product. It has been made as such for safety purpose and should be appreciated.
Though it works very fast but it makes such a noise we do not feel comfortable in using it after 10 at night.
Both the processor jar and mixie part needs to be fitted for the appliance to run and needs to run both together irrespective of your need which causes unnecessary extra noise, consumption of power and more wear and tear.
As far as performance is concerned, it makes good chutneys only when taken in right amount that is just about and little above half of the chutney jar, if taken in less quantity it doesnt make smooth chutneys and leaves shreds no matter how much it is run. And if the quantity taken is more the lid tends to open up mid operation throwing all the contents over the kitchen walls. There is no issue with grinding and blending part, enjoyed many memorable shakes and pakodas with it.
The processor part we have mostly used for kneading dough, which is very soft and it is such a delight to watch the flour rotate and then turn into granules and then clumps and then into the dough right in front of our eyes. The trick is to pour water slooowwwly, otherwise the dough might become too wet and sticky and then is usually very difficult to revert it to its supple consistency.
Lately, we have stopped using the kneading function as the time and hard work saved by it goes waste while cleaning it after the use. I should mention that cleaning the deep reach parts for kneading is a real pain.
For as the coconut shredding part. Pls dont confuse it with coconut scraper or grater. It doesnt grate directly from coconut shells but one has to manually(a tedious job) cut out pieces of coconut from the shell and then feed it to the processor to do the rest. Moreover, the shredder does not completely shred the coconut chunks. The pieces when remains about a size of centimeter, they tend to escape from the feeder and get stuck in the crevices of the lid, which needs to be manually removed and put into the feeder until one gets bored
The most heart breaking part is the juicer which is just pathetic, it takes about a kilo of watermelon to make just half glass of juice.
Generally, we do not need to use other functions but just for the sake of it, we once tried to chop onions, though fast, but the chops were mostly uneven and crushed at parts.
At present, we only use it for making chutneys and grinding and shall be making shakes in the upcoming summer.
BOTTOMLINE: This one is good only if it is used as the usual mixie, but the processor part is thoroughly disappointing. STAY AWAY FROM IT.
