Buying 180 DTSi, think!!!!!!!!

I would like to share my personal sad experience with Pulsar 180 Dtsi (black styling). highly impressed by its styling an dreviews I purchased the vehicle in September 2005. During the delivery of the bike I noticed that there was jerky motion while releasing the clutch. I brought it to the notice of the dealer and he replied that it will be alright when bike does few miles. Within two days I went to the delaer complaining about the jerky clutch release, false neutral and noisy gear transmission. The solution provided was loosening the clutch cable. This went on few more times in the first month itself and then I gave the bike for First free servicing but the problem persisted.


Later I wrote to Bajaj, pune and under the supervision of Area service manager whole clutch assembly of the brand new bike was replaced as a warranty repair. Even that did not solve the issue. It was a haunting experience to pay so high and ride a low quality bike. Later on my repeated complaints a specialist form Bajaj, pune took my vehicle for four days and said that he has replaced the clutch assembly once a gain and made minor changes to the chain socket and .... I collected the bike and drove out of the sevice station only to note that whole gear assembly has got jammed and clutch could not be engaged. This was real shock.


I had to leave my bike back at the dealer and I asked them for replacement of my bike since it had manufacturing defect. They refused it and later I filed a case against them in the consumer court. I recently won the case and court has ordered BAJAJ to replace the vehicle.


I do accept that the stability and styling of the bike was too good but the gear box is one of lowest quality. Its a well known fact that pulsars have been problematic in the areas of gear transmission and drive chain slack. But this personal experience was a very painful one. Even the mechanics at BAJAJ dealers accept the fact that new pulsar 180 dtsi has issues. Hope that this review would help new buyers. Never believe what the automobile magazines write down since they are well paid by the Bike Manufacturing Companies.


Most disheartening thing is the reponse we get from BAJAJ when we approach them with complaints. BEST OF LUCK guys and I hope No Bike lover should face the problems I faced.
