In all true sense, I am a bike fanatic.
given a choice, and the money of course, I would have gone for a Yamaha R1 or a Honda CBRR or a Kawasaki ZZRR.
Back to India, back to the money I make, I went for a 180 pulsar. Was a bit apprehensive, when I actually did buy this piece of machinery. It is one year since I bought this bike and it still is able to keep me excited.
First thing that would attract you to this bike is its appearance, Very little chrome on the bike, which is very new for a Bike in india. The all black engine, mag wheels and exhaust give a very sporty look to the bike. It comes in really jazzy blue and a candy red( my personal favourites). The overall look is good and bike looks extremely sleek for a 180 CC.
The performance of the bike is just awesome( if your purse can hold a bit more Cash for the Petrol that it consumes). The pickup of the bike is just awesome and it leaves behind all the bikes( even karizmas and the mightly bullet). Road grip is pretty decent . The bike does not always leave you comfortable sply at high speed corners, I was left wanting for more road grip on few occassions.
As far as the feel goes, the factory setup is quite comfortable. the Telescopic shocks in the front do give lots of comfort on rough surfaces. If you are one of the hard breakers, then these shocks are bound to wear out quite early( mine got pressed in 8 months, flat). The rear shocks are only just Ok, despite having the gas thing attached. Wonder Y bajaj did not opt for the mono- shocks as available in unicorn. It would have been great had the rear wheels been a bit broad as well.
the Front Vicer assembly is just retained from the 150s. It time bajaj did something else and does a complete makeover to an ultra sporty look. Bajaj should go for sporty 2 piece handle bars, full aerodyniamic pacakaging, sport exhausts et all.
Overlll, the pulsar 180, in its true form keeps exciting the bikers.
