Well with a slight

Change, I like to comment on the following points in this opinion board

  1. Always drive the new bike at 40-45kmph.never go above 3500rpm mark - True, but increase the rpm value a bit more, because in the top gear, if the rpm value is low, then the load on the crank will be high, due to which there will a bit more consumption. There is no standard values recomended since it depends where you ride.

  2. Never try to overtake, have patience - Overtake only when it’s necessary.

  3. Use ur. clutch only only while changing gears and while braking - Using clutch while applying brakes will definetly waste the petrol. Reasons :

  4. When the clutch is released, the piston, crank shaft, gear wheels & the rear wheel(s) are in synchronised state. When you hold the clutch, the velocity changes and deceleration due to gravity happens on the wheels due to direct contact with rough surface - road. Due to which, the RPM drops drastically and the connection between the crank shaft & gear wheel is lost. When you release the clutch after braking or without braking, not due to this asynchronous state, when the clutch is released, petrol will be consumed due to sudden release, which will also cause a minor damage to the crank shaft.

  5. Avoid driving with a pillion - True.

  6. Keep ur throttle as constant as possible - Very true. Incase of acceleration, try to accelerate very gradually.

  7. When u see a red light before u , release the throttle completly - If you are very strong rider, switch of the vehicle, although a bad practice, only after bringing the vehicle to neutral. I wouldn’t recomend this to any rider having city riding experience less than 3-4 years.

7 Avoid harsh braking - Very true.

7.a Avoid the brakes as much as possible, since it wastes the energy. The most important thing is that, the momentum is lost, so when you accelerate next time after applying brakes, you have to fight against the momentum to attain the same speed, which consumes bit more fuel. So when you decelerate more the more fuel is wasted.

  1. Avoid riding in First gear as much as possible and try to remain in top gear as much as possible. Thumb rule is to ride in the right gear in the right RPM depending on the environment. There is no standards since it is to be learnt only out of experience.
