All,
I had a Pulsar150 DTSi s/s on which I did 6000 km.
I am an engineer working in Bangalore. I purchased the pulsar 150 only because of its good looks.
(I bought it in Nov 2005). Used it for 6 months. ( after that my bike was stollen from my house, and still not yet traced. waiting for the insurance claim)
Here is my humble observations:
Yes, the look and feel. Its design is superb than all other bikes in India.
When I bought the pulsar, it was giving me 55 - 58 km/lit mileage. (That time I was keeping the speed below 50kmh)
Another thing I noticed was the gear shift problems. When I move to 3rd gear from the second gear, sometimes it used to stuck in the middle. when I went to the service for the first free service, I told the mechanic at the service centre about this. he said he will solve it. When I got the bike back after the service, I found that this problem is there for all the gears, plus one new problem. when I ride above 60 in the 5th gear, sometimes the gear will slip back to the 4th gear. I never told this to the service person again.
Mileage: Before first service I was getting roughly around 55 to 58. After first service it came down to 48 to 50 km/lit. After 5000 kmrs I was getting only 40 to 45 km/lit - if I keep the speed at 40-50 max.(in Bangalore city). When I started driving the bike at 70 -90 kmh (on the ring road) I was getting only 30 to 35 km/lit.
Speed: I was able to attain 110 kmh. (If I can belive the speedo of pulsar). When I was riding @ 100kmh I could see Unicorn and Yamaha135 overtaking me, simply.
The other 150cc bikes I had driven are Suzuki Fiero (used it for 3 years), and CBZ. (my friends bike)
Fiero was a good bike. CBZ, I couldnt notice anything special.
Anyway, I am planning to buy another 150cc bike. Not sure whether I should buy pulsar again. I dont like the new CBZ xtreame, and Unicorn design. (Old CBZ design is good)
Apache is somewhat OK.
Rgrds,
Roy
