It been one year now I bought my Bajaj Saffire. For last Diwali I was planning to buy the Kinetic Honda and unluckily I saw the newspaper ad of SAFFIRE. I went for a look at Sai Service and got awed by the way it looked.
There is no doubt that the looks are really great. In fact the Saffire looks the best in the business. Even the new Activa looks ordinary.
To start with the Saffire was extremely smooth. No noise at all. The systems were perfectly in place. The mileage is around 45 uptil now which definitely is a plus point. But the main problem is the fully fibre body which makes the Saffire really vunerable on Indian roads and conditions.
The pricing seems to be okay considering other bikes in the same category. People are easily made to believe that for the looks Saffire has the price is justified. Believe me if this is the rate of breakdown of Saffire, after my free warranty period expires I really dont know how much will I end up spending on it. This is the reason that the free waranty for Saffire has been extended for one more year for all Saffire owners. But it still doesnt compensate for the trouble one has to take to go to the service centre taking leaves from work.
Because they have tried hard to style it to the extreme the parts of the bike are very vunerable to damage at the slightest of dashing. A living example is that my bike was struck by a Maruti 800 at the speed of 30 kms when the Saffire was stationary on the road side and my foot rest broke apart not able to be fixed forever.
In the 14 months since purchase I have visited their far flung service centre at Saki Naka at least 9 times for some or the other problem. Most of the times same problems keep surfacing again and again.
To handle a Saffire you really have to be very careful and also lucky. There maybe a few lucky Saffire owners but I surely am not one of them and I know many would agree with me because whenever I have gone to the service centre most of the people are swearing at the breakdown average of the stunning new Bajaj Saffire.
It really is it riding and you soching whats wrong everytime!
