Bajaj auto hasnt found much success in the computer segment with the discover motorcycles and now they have lunched an all new brand, called V.
Inspired from indias first aricraft carrier, INS vikrant, this motorcycle has steal in its tank from the warship. well this motorcycle looks very promising, it is very differentiated in terms of appearance but dose it perform?
I am going out today. The bajaj v15 looks like a max of cruiser and cafe racer. while I dont link the front headlight with the chrome surround as it reminds us of the discover, the muscular tank with the text on the fuel lid stands out. the logo will remind one of aship the rear seat gets a cowl which is removable using the allen key thats integrated with bike key. the instrument cluster is an analogue unit with a digital bar for the ful meter, that truns from green to red when you come onto reserve.
The tell tale lights arent visible in the day while the bike misses out on both a tachometer and engine kill swith. the low seat makes the v15 comfortable for even short people and the riding position is upright. The bajaj v15 is powered by a new 150cc engine. Now this motor has 2- valves and its a long stroke unit. there is ample city performance but out on the highway, power out very quickly. there is 12 PS of power and 13 NM of torque wich peaks out early at 5500 RPM.
So if you are riding in the city, ther is ample grunt but this is not a highway machine because reaching triple digit speeds, can be a challenge. the exhaust out of the v15 is very nice and this motorcycle has a smooth shifting gearbox, having shifts in all up pattern. Underpinned by a double cradle frame, the bajaj v15 gets a 90 section 18 inch front tyre while the rear is a 120 section, 16 inch unit. although stiffly sprung this motorcycle offers good ride quality and is easy to polit in the city, the feedback being very good from the handlebar. The EuroGrip tyres offer decent grip while MRF is alo asupplier.
The 240 mm front disc offers good stopping power. The bajaj v15 is an interesting motorcycle, it offers exceptional performance in the city, its a great commuter and is also priced attractively. Most importantly, it also has a lot of appeal, something which is lacking in commuter motorcycles . well does it have any rivals? not really. but if I had to compare it with a motorcycle, it would be this, the Honda CB Unicorn 150. Now this Japanese motorcycle has been unbeatable, so much so that, honda had to bring back this motorcycle after discontinuing it. Well the v15 wonts really be able to stral market share from this motorcycle but on its own, it does have what it takes to be a successful product for BAJAJ Auto.
