Well I purchased my xcd125 blackedition with electric strat in oct 2007, just two months after its release. obviously like most of u I was attracted beacuse of the mileage. for straters I would like to say IT DOES NOT GIVE ANYTHING NEAR 100KMPL. but surely u can get mileage upto 85kmpl with a liitle difficulty. ive done almost 20000kms with lots of long trips. let me tell u its great on the highways the grip is just amazing and its as smooth as u like it. now ive been reading a lot about how xcd is not upto the expectation, this happens because people use it as a pulser. its not made for that.
I suggest in order to get good milege one has to use this in the prescribed speed limits as mentioned in the manual. also lately my milege was down to as low as 45kmpl. so please check ur breaks, tire pressure, and ur clutches. I think the best speeds to operate it in the highway is around 75-80 although u need to have good shifting capability to do so. once u done 10000km make sure u top up with a 10000km kit in the next immediate service. I still think it should have been a 5 gear bike. it just is tied down beast at 75kmps(really).
overall I am just happy that I own an xcd125. great mileage, descent engine, ride is the best at many levels I think it better than pulser because its not to heavy, sitting position is awesome.
to sum it up I would say if have cash to buy a more expensive bike surely go ahead. but if ur really a city rider like me I would recomend xcd as the best. I think its the best city bike in india at the moment. enjoy ur ride.
