I'm using this bike for 14 months & 8100+ Kms

After seeing lot of reviews abt the bike, can’t stop myself writing my 14 months owning experience abt it . I’m not going to write abt the tech specs or looks as they r readily available. I stay at Mira road, Mumbai & hv to travel to the city for job. It’s abt 54KM to & fro daily in which 80% is Western Express Highway(Traffic conditions r worst than the city roads at pick hrs) & 20% local / city roads. Usually for the first few months till my 2nd service I got around 83 KM/Ltr due to smooth travel on 5th gear at non pick hrs & a steady speed of 50/55 KM & then it settled down to 75+ KM/Ltr which is pretty good for a 135 cc.( Initially I followed the speed restriction to the Tee till the 2nd service as per the bike’s manual). Then I started experimenting with the speed & also hv to face the pick hrs traffic for which the mileage dropped to around 50KM/Ltr!

Now the 1st problem which I faced is one day suddenly the bike didn’t start. When I took it to the Bajaj Delar’s workshop they said the battery has developed a problem & sent me to Exide battery dealer to get it checked. The Exide battery dealer was a crook who tried tofleeceme & charge for every single thing though the battery(and bike) was under warranty.(A company like Bajaj should hv a back to back arrangement with their vendors & not makes their valuable customer do the runaround - MY’Hamara Bajaj’ dream was shattered for the 1st time!) . Finally for running around 7 days between the Exide Battery’s zonal workshop & Bajaj dealership I was able to make the Exide engineer & the Bajaj workshop mechanic face to face to jointly inspect the bike & it was established that the coil which rotates to generate electricity was not supplying enough voltage to the battery to be charged & hence all the problem. Then Bajaj replaced it & everything is ok now.

Now for the second problem. My bike had a problem of kick start from the day 1 which I noticed while taking the delivery. I brought it to their notice & they said initially it happens as the engine is new & will go off once the engine has done some running. But I noticed the problem continued even after 7th month & more than 5000 KMS! Whenever I brought it to their notice they do some tuning & it will work if the engine is hot & that also for 1 or 2 days & then all the same. Finally when I sat on their head for this, they finally agreed to change the Gear Plates & after doing that I didn’t faced the problem till now! I wonder what stopped them doing this in the first instance which would have given me a better experience.

I would like to mention here that the Bajaj Workshop Manager for my Bajaj Dealer was personally known to me & helped me out of his way to get the things fixed for me, else I would hv seriously thought of selling off the bike or sue Bajaj in consumer court for deficiency in service & bad product…

Now I would also like to mention that occasionally I go on long ride(may be 180 KM one way) apart from my regular use which has been thankfully reduced to 10 KMS a day and didn’t face much problem.

However if u ride the bike on 5th gear with pillion & even do a 85KM/Hr there is no issues if the road is good(like highways)… But if u do it for long time i.e may be 15 – 20 km at a stretch then the engine gets

overheated & engine oil may start leaking from the filling cap as it gets bit soft due to the heat(even with new engine oil)…

Finally, to conclude, the bike is good for city riding conditions though the spare parts used is not up to the mark & will start troubling u may be after 6000 KMS… The Bajaj Dealer workshops are infamous for the quality of their service & will take u for a ride if u don’t know someone personally there… So better be careful than being sorry … I will always advice to go for a pulsar instead of this one if mileage is not a concern as u will get around 50 KMPL which will be the case for this bike also in city roads with frequent gear shifts & braking but get a good deal while selling off the Pulsar… Well that’s it as of today… Thanks for reading… will keep posted for the new things….
