Love knows no religion

I was back at INOX for my second movie of the day. Being disappointed with Dilwale, I was all set to end the day on a high with Bajirao Mastani. Five minutes into the movie was enough to draw me towards this gem.

I heard that the film draws inspiration from the Marathi novel titled ‘Rau’. The film shows us that a man can win against the entire world but is no match against his family. The movie is visually stunning with a passionately told tale. Everything about the movie is gorgeous in a  restrained manner with heartfelt dramatic scenes. It exudes a poetic feel with real story telling.

Priyanka and Deepika carry their characters with sheer brilliance. Priyanka vulnerability makes your heart wrench every time yet she exudes strength. Deepika looks ethereal and ravishing with a strong performance. Ranveer as Bajirao, the Maratha warrior is epic in his role. He passionately portrays a man torn between his two ladies - one who give him inspiration and the other his strength. Of memorable mention is Milind Soman who looks stunning in his supporting character with a shaved head and certain soundtracks which are mesmerizing.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s vision has set the screens alive. He has managed to successfully execute a movie of this magnitude. He deserves a standing ovation. This inter-religion love story has the making of a blockbuster. A must watch with family and friends.
