I have recently moved to Pune. Being a foodie family, we go around looking for various food joints. I am a mangalorean and my natural craving for mummy’s cuisine makes me hunt for a typical lunch home kind of restaurants. Thanks to Mumbai’s famous lunch home’s turned fine dining coastal food joints, the likes of Mahesh Lunch home, Apoorva, Excellensea, Trishna. This cuisine is now found all over Mumbai and Pune.

Bomboo house does not come in the same league of famous coastal restaurants but would surely recommend people to visit to get a good mangalorean experience. The food is reasonably good. Must try dishes would be Kori-rotti, Chicken / Mutton Sukkha, Any fish curry including prawns, Prawns rava fry or tawa fry, Crab masala and marvai (mussel) sukkha. Mind you these are slightly more pungent than the Punjabi or mughlai cuisine. For accompaniment please try the neer dosa an ultra thin and ultra soft dosa in a conical shape or appams. The place would be a bit noisy for person looking for some peaceful dining. There is nothing mangalorean for you. They do serve a decent Chinese and Indian stuff. There is nothing special about the desserts. The drinks are reasonable. Bill for a family with 2 small children would be in the range of 800-1500 ( for fish dishes).
I would rate this value for money.
