I am not a Himesh Reshmmiya fan when he sings, but I did like his music when he gave music for TERE NAM, but these days what he sings is noise and nothing else and I am not sure why people are going gaga over him, if its different kind of instrumental music he uses, then its ok, but what he sings...Why he just doesnt stick to music direction?I think he is just great when he gives music. BANARAS is another example apart from TERE NAM.These days I was more interested in catching news about him as he is always in news these days be it his stub or cap or theghost who used to come whenever his songjhalak dikhla ja..." was played in a remote village of Maharashtra, situation became hilarious when an over enthusiastic satellite channel played his song in that village and nothing happened! He is also known these days for getting three prestigious awards as a singer and Mr.Sonu Nigam is very upset on this:)anyways...this album BANARAS is just great..
It contains six songs, , two of them having two versions-
1.Kitna pyar karte hain ....has two versions, one by Himesh himself and one by Alka Yagnik, both are great having classical base and this is the only song by Himesh in his original voice.
2.Ishq mein dilko...by Sunidhi Chauhan and Sonu Nigam is also very good.
3.Rang Dalo..is having two versions, i dont know why ..by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal and Sonu Nigam and Sailesh, I think this song is just too good having great instrumental music of manjeera and dholak.
4.Purab se....by Shreya Ghoshal is kind of bhajan, but its unarguably one of the best songs in this album.
5.Yeh hai shaan banaras ki....by Sanjeev Abhyankar , great classical maestro, doesnt need any words than too good...
6.Bajooband khul khul jaye....by Pranab Kumar is a short classical piece, but very good.
Overall this album is just great and Himesh Reshammiya must be congratulated for this, I wish he could concentrate and use his time, energy and effort on this kind of music and not the noiseful songs he is churning out every day..
Thanks for reading my review.
