Discriminated based on licence plate regn

Hi,

After all my previous reviews which were mostly product based, this one takes a beat and

i seek to put forth my views on what I think about the police situation here in Bangalore. Being an IT professional, travel and relocation is something I have learnt to take in my stride. This saw me relocating from Hyderabad to Bangalore, when I switched jobs.

While in hyderabad, I had purchased my first vehicle, my Pulsar (plz find review on the same from me ;) ). When the question of relocation popped up, pretty obviously, I brought it along with me here to Bangalore. Within a matter of days, my bike tasted the roads of Bangalore. While traffic was defintely a pain here, I had to also put up with the constant checking by the traffic cops, all coz my bike bore an AP registration...!! While all my papers were in order, including the life tax, which I had to repay to remain within the law, along with the pollution within limits certificate, I still had to subject myself to intense scrutiny by the cops. If there was nuthin else they cud find, they went on to claim that the font wasnt the approved one...!! My bike has been ridden in Hyderabad for close to 3 years, and not once was such a point mentioned by the cops there. While the font is slightly fancy, I must say, it is in no way totally different from the prescribed font and size.

It took quite a lot of convincing on many an occassion to free myself from the same.

I have seen the same happen at the entrance to the Outer Ring road, wherein bikes registered in other states are pulled up regularly, while the locally registered bikes are let free.

I was also witness to an incident on the CMH road, where hapless 2 wheelers are towed away, despite pleas from the owners, while high-end cars parked illegaly are allowed to go scot free.

Please note, my bike was parked well within the allowed limits.

Maybe they need to frame equal rules for all.

Need I even mention, the refusal of the cops to speak anything but Kannada??? And I thought Bangalore was a cosmopolitan city...!!
