Yupps mate,
Thats what I would call this city. Fun, entertainment, pubs etc.... what else can u best describe Bangalore with.
My journey started the day I was handed over a letter regarding my posting at Bangalore. As I worked for a chain of restaurants, I was sent there to set up a new outlet. Landing in Bangalore is a lot like other cities across India, as when you step out of the bus there will be a herd of rickshaw drivers waiting to carry your luggage and take you to your destination. Be sure to fix your price with the driver before you get into it. These guys here charge as per their own whims and fancies. Dont be surprised when your rickshaw driver asks you for fifty rupees to drop you maybe a distance of less then a couple of Kms.
Another new thing that I managed to discover and was quite surprised was that if you happen to ask any one as to how far a place is, you happen to recieve a reply stating the distance in Kms. Strange!!!! How do you imagine in Kms, how long it is going to take for you to travel to your destination. If you happen to be a Non Bangalorite, beware. U may recieve stares and vibes for arguing with the localites. Attitude, my friend.
Be ready for the sumptous South Indian delicacies for B\fast, lunch, snacks, dinner and anytime u feel like grabbing a bite. Ofcourse the city does have places like KFC(atleast it was there when I was), Burger King, MacDonalds. If you happen to be a foodie like me, you need to try the really small, local South Indian joints to actually feel the joys of A decent South Indian meal.
After a tired day at work, Bangalorites love to go for a round of beers with colleagues and friends. Almost every evening you are bound to find all the pubs upto full capacity. You will be lucky to find a small table in the corner. A must visit city for all the Pubhoppers and pub loving citizens of the country. Evenings are best enjoyed at Brigade Road, the shopping Mecca for all Bangaloreans. You will come across people of all ages just strolling up and down the road. Its fun!!!! Try it.
If you can manage to get a couple of days free, do visit the Palace and the gardens etc here. They are amazingly beautiful. Guess thats the reason the city is known as the Garden City (High tech city, thats what is left of it now).
Overall a must visit tourist destination for travel freaks. The best season I would recommend is between June & September when the rains lash the trees and the city is surrounded with greenery.
