I belong here, although I do not live here.
I had a brief stay in December and this stay is after a long break. I had to travel across the city several times due to personal and work reasons. I did the commute as any regular commuter would - a combination of public transportation, rickshaw and cabs.
The city IMHO is unlivable by any means and heres why;
Roads:- There are no roads, period. The population is so obsessed with speed bumps(there is one every 10 feet) mindless that the average speed is in single digit km/hr.
Pollution:- Alarmingly high levels. Gardens around the city are no match to absorb pollution levels. Dirt and filth all around the city
Cost of living:- Extremely high
Progressiveness of population:- Did not see any awareness or motivation to help curtail or enhance standards of living
Governance:- Very little to non-existent(may exist to certain segment of population - but does not exist where its needed the most)
Future prospect:- City of course will thrive like any other metropolis. People will love to live here(amid all filth and dirt). But, the fact is that the city as such does not deserve the credit of being a garden city
Bangalore was not the only destination in my visit. Unfortunately this review does apply to any city in India, without exception.
