Bangalore is one of my favorite places in India. There are lots of reasons for that! Its like my families Head quarters as my mother , brothers and most of our relatives live there. Plus, it is a beautiful city!
Bangalore is the capital of Karnataka State. It is one of Indias most charming cities. Today, it is Indias 5th largest city, with its remarkable Industrial and commercial growth. It is regarded as the Garden City by many, since it has an amazing number of flowering trees and parks. It is a sheer delight, to simply wander around in this beautiful city.
Due to the Industrial development in Bangalore, I feel the place is slowly losing its charm. Bangalore has become highly polluted now! Anyway, the local parks with blooming flowers make up for this pollution. Bangalore is even gaining the status of the Floriculture Capital due to the present rate of flower exports from the city.
Bangalore has excellent schools and universities, such as the Indian Institute of Science. Weatherwise, Bangalore is a very good place to live. Weather is warm throughout the year ! If you happen to go to Bangalore, you can also make it a central base to see other attractions of Karnataka. Mysore is one of those places.
Bangalore is famous for producing fine silk. I like to do my shopping for silk sarees in Bangalore, whenever I go to India. Karnataka silk sarees are quite famous and liked by everybody.
Bangalore is also known as The Fruit Market of the South. The place is great for grapes, mangoes and guavas.
Bangalore has rich stone resources in the form of granite deposits. Because of that, Bangalore is also known as the Stone City.
You will find shopping a satisfying experience, if ever you make a visit to Bangalore. Bangalore is comparatively cheap for buying silk and handloom fabrics, garments, woolen carpets, sandalwood articles, rare antiques, gold and silver jewelry, perfumes and agarbathis.
Commercial Street is a busy place, where you can shop for hosiery, textiles, woolen materials, garments, artware and novelties, jewelry, sports and general goods. Kashmir Arts Emporium and other arts and crafts shops are located here.
Mahatma Gandhi Road is another interesting place , where you can shop for radios, TV sets, books and magazines, photograph material, silk sarees, textiles, garments and other general goods. You can find many shopping complexes like Shrungar shopping Complex, Barton Court Commercial Complex, Public Utility Building Shopping Complex, Spencer Super Market and Coir Board Show Room.
Kidskemp is the largest childrens wear shop near the Utility Building. Cauvery Arts & Crafts Emporium in M.G.Road is one of the important shopping centers you cannot afford to miss! There are many other Government Handicrafts Emporiums in the Residency Road location.
Hope you will make it a point to visit Bangalore, if you get a chance to visit India. I am just counting the days to visiting Bangalore again. It is no doubt a shoppers paradise apart from being a wonderful place!
