BANGALORE ROADS - ONE-WAY TICKET TO HELL

Hey! what do I write bout? I actually signed up sometime ago....but been too lazy to post anything.....sorta hoggin my share of cyberspace without actually doin anythin for it......

actually what prompted me to post today is the experience I’ve been goin thru the past coupla days - well its about a year I’ve been in Bangalore now--travellin thru bangalore in peak hours....

earlier my work demanded me to report at around 1, 2 or 3 in the noon and it was fine with me n hey! it didnt gimme a chance to face the bangalore traffic ’mano-y-mano’ but all that changed when I had to report to work at 9 in the morn n start bk home at around 6 inthe evening!!! peak hours!!! n the full impact of that move dawned on me only when I actually started from office around 6 in the evening and reached home at about 8 pm!!! 2hrs travel for a mere 16kms!!! I mean how difficult travel can get in a city??? n how difficult can a city’s corporators can make the citizens’ lives????

It is appalling that the fathers of Bangalore Corporation have the least respect n regard for the citizens of the city!!! an inference from the way the roads have been dug up, hastily started projects stalled / moving at snails pace, all over the city...at a time when the city is groaning under expansion........ the fact that the city’s infrastructure is just not able to keep up with the explosive pace of growth....hits you in your face the moment you enter bangalore. You’ll find Very very few roads are roads anymore...residential areas are residential anymore....the growth that bangalore has seen in the past couple of years is phenomenal to say the least....but at what price??!!! makes you wonder if its worth after all!!! practically no roads barring a few showpieces like MG road or Brigade road etc., most of the big roads, major junctions dug up n left (we are in project mode you see....and dont ask us when the flyovers will actually be completed. Never mind the fact that by the time the flyovers are ready traffic would have increased another tenfold and eternal traffic jams will continue as usual!!) The biggest and the worst kind of enemy of this city is its ONE WAY POLICY.....trust me, I’ve never seen a city with so many one-ways!!! and the joke is that the city’s cops pride themselves over these one ways sayin that the traffic is under control only due to these one-ways....but its the citizens who are paying the price for this!!! to cover a distance of 2 kms you’d need to travel a minimum of 5 kms...why? because of one-ways!! every road is a one way forcing people to go round and round and round....wasting fuel and burning up money on transport. I wonder where these geniuses came up with this idea??!!what the hell...its not their money right!?!

I plan to add to this.....whenever the situtation worsens (which is more often than I can write about) or improves!!! (hope, is eternal you see)
